Was talking to a few Waubra boys on Saturday night and they said that they signed a pretty handy player, some guy Rhodes from Donald, apparently mates with the Browns. Can anyone tell us much about him? Have the Waubra boys picked up many more recruits?

What about Jake Pring? Guys might laugh when I say this but this guy really packs a punch. Iv heard He had a team mate recieve 4 weeks for something he didn't do cos noone suspected little Jake pring could brake a guys jaw in several places. Iv also heard he's smashed alot of very big bouncers as well. I must admit though he could be a little more at it when it comes to "moeing guys down" but this is something that he's improved on.

You're right, I am laughing...

Why didn't you just ask that when you were talking to them?

To any people in the know at Hepburn...

I noticed a transfer on the list of Ashley Wedding from WA, is this the same Ashley Wedding that has been ripping the NTFL in the past for years? Kicked 115 in 2007 and has been down here playing at Kerang in past years...

More than likely. Despite Robertsons claim in the Courier that they haven't recruited and are going to play kids to cover their losses - (Is anybody else sick of this mobs smoke and mirrors crap?) - they have been very active and very generous in the recruiting game.

Jo Gilbert Buninyoung coach is filling the courier up with all this hog wash. Its already full of crap, Jo.Jake is living in Darwin at the moment. He has not made any agreement or contracts with the bunnies. But is keen make the most $$$ out of his playing days to go OS before he is to old. He only sent Jake a text the other day saying he would offer him flights home to play. Come on Jo if you want to recruit players you cant just send texties

What Robo was rely thinking when he was interviewed. "He was expecting some of the reserves, and some juniors, to push for a spot in the seniors at other clubs, meaning additions to the squad were ... required. We're really closing ...doors for the younger guys. We've lost a few players from the grand final side and have gone out recruiting. We've got a good bunch of kids coming through and reserves, and we wont have a look it, so it will go to waste. Our year is all about the recruits coming through so we will win all games"

Considering Darwin footy season is over, if he's trying to earn coin out of footy it would make sense to come home to Victoria then wouldn't it?

When are Hepburn going to STOP paying players HUGE amounts of money just to continue there dominance of the past 5 years. Give us a break, clubs like you are the reason why players are now expecting to get paid good salaries to do something they love. Look across the road at Daylesford, not my favourite club by a long shot, but at least they put faith in there kids. It has paid divide ends for them with ordinary footballers playing good senior football. Hepburn, you are only going to self destruct one day!!!!

Very true. Clubs like Hepburn are ruining county football. The standard outside of the top few teams paying the big $ is declining with clubs not being able to keep up. Why should average footballers be getting paid big $ when it only comes out of the pockets of supporters who for the most part are enjoying the spectacle less and less each year... Some blokes must think it is a great joke getting good cash for playing a bit of footy. If you think you are good enough to get paid go and test yourself against other good footballers in the strongest league possible, not play for the highest bidder.

I am not a Hepburn person but you must give credit to a club that has been a dominate force for a long period. The reality is that every player wants to earn top dollar while they can. And to sustain that you need a very well ran club and plenty of money. Every club would do it if they had the capacity to generate $$$$$$. Hepburn has made a lot of clubs step up and follow their professionalism and the league is better for it.

Young fella from Geelong, played Falcons I believe, but did a knee only a few games in last season and had a reco.

Yeah, Abbott is a young kid out at Bungaree, has had 2 knee reco's last 2 seasons, so is being given time to get fit until towards the end of the season, when he'll qualify for finals. Has only played the four games for us, but showed a fair bit of class when he did play.

Just on our game on the weekend, we played Diggers Rest, and had a win, but the ball was overused far too much by the seniors. Should be a good round 1 clash against Ballan.

how did all the other CHFL teams go on the weekend?
have a good easter everyone..

Lets just call this the Hepburn FC forum hey!! I think that as soon as Hepburn stop looking for recruits, they basically say- lets give someone else a chance! I think that its great that they have a competitive bunch of blokes at the helm who just want to win, win, win. G it must be shit just being the average team every year must it not?
The day the next club around the corner makes 400 phone calls for three decent recruits is the day they will be doing as much as Hepburn

Keep it up burra

Thats ridiculously cynical. Believe it or not some people enjoy playing for a club they belong to rather than one that hired them. Some would rather boil their nuts in hot water than play for a rival club.
There has just been a discussion about players like M.Brown, D.Wood etc How much shopping around have they done in their careers?

Don't mean to be rude but what does smashing bouncers have to do with being a tough footballer. Moreover breaking another footballers jaw deliberately is a cowardly act. Anyone can belt a bloke when they're not looking, raise an elbow when another palyer comes into shepard, nothing courageous about that. Gutless and weak. Being a tough and respected footballer is about playing with injury, backing into packs when you know you are going to get creamed but you do it anyway, keeping your head over the ball, playing hard but fair. Guys that play like this get the respect of their team mates and the opposition. Guys that play dirty and that some people call "tough" should stay off the footy field and stick to fighting bouncers. Country footy has got to be about more than hurting blokes outside the spirit of the game.

My two cents worth.

Some clubs actually believe in developing there kids rather than just stealing them once someone else has put in the hard work.Throwing massive dollars at country level is a weak way to build a club. All this will stop when the points system comes in then we will see how the mighty burra go's.
Winning a flag with blokes you have played all your footy with as a kid growing up is what good teams and clubs are made of. They are worth the wait and extra effort.

Can this thread go a page of discussion without referring to how much money hepburn spend on recruiting. It is how it is, its not gonna change cos u complain about it on a website. There's 13 other teams in the league guys...

Well said.

Tips for Round 1 (purely based on guestimates!):
Hepburn vs Clunes
Creswick vs Beaufort
Buninyong vs Daylesford
Waubra vs Newlyn
Bungaree vs Ballan
Learmonth vs Gordon
Dunnstown vs Springbank

Will probably be a few blowouts there I'd say, Bunnies and Doggies match of the round easily

Round 1 is always interesting so I guess all the recruiting sides have done come to action now...No place to hide for recruits... For majority of them, this is a better standard league than many think and if you think reputation will get you a kick, your sadly mistaken.... The hard at the ball recruits are the ones that will be of high benefit for sides....

B'Yong V Dford is certainly match of the round... Both have hard at it midfields with Winduss in the ruck being the difference...

Agreew ith results as above, expect Ballan & Bunga to be a lot closer than what people think....Springbank seem to have recruited plenty from down Geelong way so it will be interseting to see if they are competitive this season...

All the best to all sides.....

Who have Springbank recruited this year Learmonth? Or anyone else that would know?

I am an old follower of the Bankers but have fallen out of the loop...

Dont think the ballan v bunga game will be that close. saw a few of the ballan boys out over the weekend and they were definetly on more than the jim beams. Also out of springbank most of there recruits are for the under 17s.

Hepburn vs Clunes BY 150 POINTS
Creswick vs Beaufort BY 100 POINTS
Buninyong vs Daylesford CLOSE CONTEST
Waubra vs Newlyn BY 100 POINTS
Bungaree vs Ballan 2 GOALS
Learmonth vs Gordon BY 200 POINTS, AT LEAST
Dunnstown vs Springbank BY A KICK

Yeah just a couple of blow outs this week.

I too am sick of the burras recruiting talk but if you "dicks" would of read previous posts according to timmy the burras would of been well off lastyear if the points system was envoked, and like it or not timmy is well researched so i believe him.ALL I CAN SAY IS CATCH UP OR PISS OFF.many clubs voted daylesford in thinking it would slow hepburn's progress and in reality it has only added to their will to succeed.THAT"S A FACT

Anyone know much about Rokewood this year? Heard they've had a complete over-hall of their coaching staff.
