It shows.
there are alot of people on here tipping waubra to do big things hope they dont disappoint. hepburn still going to be bench mark of comp bunninyong never far from the action woudnt wright them off. daylesford and dunnstown wont slide as much as you all think if not rise id say. beaufort have picked up 2 very handy footballers which would have to help there cause but dont think that will win them a premiership. and than the rest can fight for other positions on ladder which wont bother the top 4 because they have no chance of beating any of them.

i agree. waubra may have got some handy pick ups an will no doubt be one of the better teams at the end of the day but i dont think they have improved enough to go with likes of daylesford, bunninyong, hepburn

Hepburn clearly the best team and will be on top. Will be suprised if waubra make the top four. Cant see many challenging the burra to be honest. I think there is a leauge for 17 teams and one for the burra.

Anyone play practice matches on the weekend just gone? Any scores of note? Any injuries the week before R1?

So after saying Bungaree would have belted 'lexton' by ten goals if in lexton plains last year you've gone ahead and tipped skipton.. contradicting yourself much??

Just making the point 10 goal premiership side means squat in this league.

If your talking contradictons you wrote " Gordon are shit " then tip them to only go down by only 30 points against last years runner up Daylesford . Look forward to your tips round 11 when the 10 goal premiership side plays Daylesford. Daylesford by more than 30 points is going to suggest the "shit side" Gordon is better than the 10 goal premiership side Skipton.

I can't follow this logic...perhaps it's the way it's written..?

btw have you ever used 'Duct Tape'?

well heres your chance to prove just how wrong i am, put a few predictions down and then we will measure them up at the end, remember i wrote what others on here are saying and this is my interpretation of that.

OK.

The top 5 teams to be the same as last year in roughly the same order. The rest? Who cares - they have as much hope of winning the flag by finishing 18th as they have by finishing 6th.

The LPFL clubs to be a lot more competetive than some are predicting.

Hepburn to win the flag. Again. Boring. Again.

lets hope the new finals format makes it a lot tougher they won;t stay up there forever

It seems as though you have little respect and a bias opinion on the fact that skipton easily won a flag last year in a league that surely wasn't much lower standard than ours in 2010.. and considering anything can happen in 11 weeks of football, I too look forward to my tips in round 11 :thumbsu:

Hepburn this week over there this week.. I think we will go really well but the trip there is crap you get depressed driving to that hole and then the facilities and supporters are a joke.. I'm glad we get these guys first and out of the way.. We will have a squad with prob 12 new blokes in the seniors gonna be a good show..

What did everyone think of the CHFL courier guide this week? I'm not normally a big wrap for what the courier produces, but I think they have got it pretty close to the money this year.

A couple of ordinary ladder predictions for me on this site, particularly after the top 4 or 5. Its a funny game footy, so anything can happen, but my thoughts on where we are going to end up come September is something like this...

1/2 - Waubra / Hepburn - Class above the rest. Close battle, depending on injuries and form
Waubra - Recruited strongly. got a better overall forward line than Hepburn with 4 avenues to goal, and couple of quality midfielders in picking up Gleeson and getting Mullane back. Pellissier the best CHB in the league and didn't play much last year through injury, back fit.
Hepburn - That far better than anyone else last year, Waubra have some ground to make up. Cox and McKay still the stand out players of the league. lost a couple, but can cover them with the 2nds players that are in most other sides best 15. New blokes appear to be as good if not better than those lost anyway, so expect them to be playing the granny again and a huge chance of lifting the cup.

3-6 is a tough call, but could be order most likely coming from Beaufort, Bunny, Dunstown or Daylesford, but personally, see all 4 of those sides going backwards from last year.

All have lost quality players!
Bun - Guest / Leskosesk.
Dayl - Sullivan / Savige
Duns - Cahirs
Beau - Crouch / Goonan struggling with injury??
Have all picked up a few, but I would suggest departures are better quality than what is coming in. Wouldn't suprise me if a few of the lesser clubs on the up take over the mantle for a couple of these spots, but based on history will leave these 4 in this

Havnig a look at last years results and pickups / departures (flying a bit blind here) - The final 8 I round out with any of Clunes / Gordon and Newlyn making up the 7-9 spots.

Clunes whilst struggled last year, have picked up a stack of players (quality yet to be seen) while Gordon and Newlyn don't look to have lost any and their results looked promising in sides above them. Both Gordon and Newlyn beat, Learmonth, Creswick and Bungaree and with zero departures, should be able to do the same again...

10-12 for me will be those three clubs in Bungaree / learmonth and Creswick. I don't see a lot of improvement in there... Learmonth talked up recruits early with their landmark man in Chris McGuigan who's moved north, and the others really only BFL 2nds players.

Creswick look to have gone back to there roots with some premiership junior kids going back there with the clean out the committee and coaches (and good on them for it), but as we all know, senior football is a different ball game.

Bungaree is hard to gauge, we here plenty about them every year, but I'm not hearing enough to warrant a rise up the ladder. They weren't much good last year.

And the remaining spots look to be filled with the new comers as well as Ballan and Springbank look to be sliding. Carngham could be the surprise packet with a bit of handy recruiting, and Joel Risk might kick a couple of bags to snatch a game or two for Skipton, but he also has a lot better quality opposition back man in this league that could keep him under wraps.
Only time will tell...
Haha just cos Chris Mcguigan found work means nothing hehe.. Funny how word travels and gets changed

There is two do-or-die Prelims as per the AFL system yeah!?

Should make it very interesting. Interest wil be at an all time high in this league this year!
Daylesford wil stil be capable of beating the top- despite getting older they very well drilled team. Buninyong, Beaufort and even Dunnstown believe they are stronger, as well as Bunga, Newlyn and pretty much everyone else (except ballan/Springbank)Hepburn may still be in front but with Waubra buzzing as well they'd be more nervous this year than ever.

I must of missed the news where they cut it back to 16 teams...

Thats the great thing about the final 8 system i think. the prelim weekend is knockout which means you can pull off that miracle upset and not have to face that same team again a fortnight later.
I'm sure Daylesford last year would have felt that they had achieved their peak in knocking off the Burra at Bungaree in the 2nd Semi, only for it to mean nothing a fortnight later.
The new system might not be as great for teams that have finished on top, but it will certainly make for a more interesting finals series from a spectator point of view

Top 8 has been Officially in

My To 8
also not in any particular Order
Hepburn
Skipton < Premiers
Buninyong
Daylesford
Beaufort
Ballan
Dunnstown
Bungaree

I'm tipping Skipton to win the Premiership they will be up there
be Nice to see someone else win it rather then Daylesford or Hepburn
the New final System might make it harder for hepburn and Daylesford .

Andy are Skipton still your choice for Premiers?? Still no Waubra in the updated top 8 LOL

Hepburn
Waubra
Buningyong
Daylesford
Beaufort
Dunnstown
Newlyn
Learmonth

I'll revise my ladder once a few rds have been played :) around half way mark maby we should put Clunes up there then lol ;)

Here is my crack at the ladder prediction. I reckon too many of you are writing off Daylesford. They might be getting older but still haven't shown they are sliding, Nesbitt back helps. I don't really rate Newlyn Stewart and Edwards are getting on. Dunnstown, Buninyong & Beaufort will all be pretty close and it will be out of those three to finish in fourth spot. Carnagham, Newlyn Learmonth and Bunga to fight out the last finals spot. Seems Clunes have recruited well, but will need to really step up from last year to challenge for finals.
