I will remove this post if needed, but wanted to let some people know just in case they didn't know
Vale - Pat Power (13/10/1930 - 13/09/2024)
Last Friday the Lalbert FC / Mallee Eagles FNC community has lost one of it's finest!
Pat was born and bred at Lalbert, living / working on the farm all his life. He was married to Veronica (dec) and had 5 children, Barry (dec), Karen, Jenny, Deanne & Janine. Pat was a man who said things as he saw them, an intelligent man with strong morales who was respected far and wide. While he loved being a farmer, he also had a passion for horses and was a successful owner, trainer and rider of many trotters. But his true love was football, the Lalbert FC / Mallee Eagles FNC and Hawthorn FC.
Pat was a two time senior Premiership winner (1952 & 1964), two time senior B&F winner (1952 & 1961), former Committee Member and Club Life Member. He was also named as Rover in the 1950's Team of the Decade as well as Rover in the Team of the Half Century (1950 to 2000). His last game was in the 1964 GF, where he was widely touted as BOG in that premiership winning game.
Pat was only small in stature (a typical old style rover), but was extremely talented with a fierce competitive nature. He did not take a backward step and wore his Blue & Gold jumper with great pride.
We urge all players in this weeks Grand Final to be inspired by what Pat achieved and the effort he put in to achieve it, to draw on his love for our club and the Blue & Gold he so proudly wore!
Funeral Details
Monday 23rd September - 11am - St Mary's Catholic Church
Then out to the Lalbert Cemetery, followed by a chance to come together and remember Pat at the Lalbert Community Centre where drinks and light refreshments will be served.
Rest in Peace
