I agree, the standard of umpiring is below par, especially in the CMFL.

But has anyone actually stopped to think why the standard of umpiring is so low? It's because of the constant criticism these guys cop on the ground and in forums like this... It's enough to scare anyone away from doing this job. The ironic thing is, members of this forum are complaining about the very thing they've directly contributed to.

Look, I eat and breathe Football, I am in love with the game (and no I am not an umpire). The simple fact is, it does not function without umpires. The sooner we learn to give the guys in the middle a break, the sooner blokes will want to be an umpire. The more umpires we have, the more we have to choose from, the better the standard. It is so simple.

In a nutshell, you want to see a better standard of umpiring? Keep your mouth shut.

Very good point Charlie. Sadly this will never happen, like good footballers, good umpires are hard to come by. I think the answer is money???? yet again.... Footballers are paid on how good they are.. Maybe it is time to bring in a similar system with the umpires. What is the going rate for senior central umpire?? I say what ever the amount.. double it for good senior umpires and try and buy a few ex footballers. I know a fair few presidents with in the league and i know that many of them would be glad to skim a few $$ off player payements ifit would help fix the problem. CLubs are spending great amounts of cash on players. Why not spend a little more on the bunny in white..

Easy frog dog. that is my opinion. I know the boys very well. Who is talking about life changing decisions. i think this one is a little out of your league if you can see the message i was putting it across, even though you hit the nail on the head with out knowing it.. I was simply giving everyone an example of a board memeber (Friend of mine) who was trying to push something on the league when his kids are living proof that most juniors move on. AS I STATED. nothing about life changing decisions. who would change thier entire life style for a point system. what are you on. Any junior with any talent will move on to pioneers, diggers, VFL, and any juniors that (AS i STATED) seek an education, will move on. Look at any club you like. Tyntynder and Swan hIll loose many of players too, but they start with so many they still can retain a core group. Swan Hill as nothing to offer unless you are a tradesman.. e.g. Tyntynder senior side... Very poor argument froggyboy. Suggest you start reading things a little better.
I think you might have to read your post again. I had another geeze at it and it still seemed a pox example. His kids are living proof that people move on. This really has nothing to do with the points system now doe's it. That's the piont i was trying to make to you!
I will accept your apologie if your willing to give it.

You are all for the point system and retaining locals.. Is this Correct??
Yet you are also saying that people move on due to education.. Is this Correct??
If you answered yes to both of these frogy boy... then you are killing your own argument you. Tell me froggy old boy, Who in the hell under the age of 25 is going to seek education in balranald.. and tell me, what job offers other than a bit of farm work, if your lucky, do the locals of tooley/mananag and lalbert have to offer.. Maybe a few trade positions if yuor lucky.. and tell me froggy, how can woorinen, boga, lalbert, swan hill and tyntynder compete against clubs from the goldern rivers who dont have a point system and pay stupid money, in terms of trying to retain some of their younger boarder line players. the only clubs that will benefit are swan hill and tyntynder. ONe or two good recruits is all they need to be succesful. I dont think anything you have said whilst online has had any form of evidence, fact, or for that matter thought frogy boy (Best coach is nalder... just cause he is.. and wait.... .. condelli will do well cause he gives 200 percent..... ). Bit of a tyntynder /ultima thing going on. I just hope for your sake that you have a cheap internet provider cause i hate to see people waisting money...

looks like you hit a nerve Frogdog17. A fair bit of thought (albeit angry thoughts) and research has gone into footy02's post.

Quite a few good points in their Footy02, I agree umpires should be paid more, which will encourage more ex players to take the job on and weed out the Bevan Looneys, Binga Buyings, Steve Taylors etc... Great to see Warrick Bott sacked, absolute peanut he was. :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Tyntynder gentlemen. Looking absolutely brilliant. I know its only the night series but they look far too fit and fast for any other side running around, throw in Corrie and Carroll to Tuesday nights side and things look pretty bleak for the other sides. Don't think Swan Hill will be any good. Look too top heavy, the recruits are all big fellas. Murray didn't impress me much either. I think he is good honest battler in the backline(every side needs them) but he lacks class and doesn't speak with any real purpose. Alot has been said about Foott but he was disappointing on the night. I think Boga will be competitive enough, throw Ricki Pumpa and Nathan Quick back into that side and they will be hard to shake. I think Lalbert will be the interesting ones this year!

eat&sleep footy you seem to know a bit about different clubs. What would be your ladder for the end of this year?

Yeah i think the doggies will be the team to beat. I have it from a reliable source that an ex-premiership player will be returning in '06 and that a young gun who was thought to be leaving is in fact staying. Very handy inclusions to what already looks like a young fit and strong outfit. As for Shaun Murray, I know he has all the Swans behind him and his onfield leadership is second to none.

Lake Boga will have a tough year but their main guns in Quick, Parsons, Smith, Brawn & Pumpa should be able to carry them enough to beat the weaker teams and remain competetive against the powerhouses. Although i believe they will need to retain the services of the classy Joel Heil if they are a chane of any september action.

Guys, Tyntynder seemed to firing. Do they have a better list this year? I know they lost a few and have picked up a couple. Has the improvement come from the recruits, kids or the middle tier players? Or are they just up and running early?

They have lost a few quality players in Conheady, Lewis and Scott but with the few handy recruits and the continual development and improvement of the young brigade they could prove a better side in 2006. They are lacking in the height department but their midfield should run supreme. I don't think its just a case of up and running early, Nalder just has them in tip-top shape and they will only improve throughout the year.

Very passionate about country footy and such... Another possibilty re umpires is to import umpires form melbuorne.... NOw before every goes off... its just a small option.. has been done before.. lots of bloody good umpires running around umpiring amos and so forth for very little coin.. bring them up. they have no attachment to any club or person... That way you get umpires who truly do umpire what they see... and hopefully they might lift the standard of the league.. just a small suggestion..

Although i agree Nalder is great player i think his dedicaton and commitment has a coach or more so a leader can definately be questioned. His constant unwillingless to push through niggling injuries can let the team down at times. I dont question his desire to play footy and coach but perhaps the desire to play for the doggies has left the Moulamein star.

Im very sad to see blokes bagging umps this early in the season you forget its only the preseason. As for tubba for someone who lives in bendigo & just comes home to watch footy you sound very peed off about the umpiring on Monday night, it sounds almost as if you played against boga. Second if you’ve got the guts to single out an umpire & plaster his name on the net & say how you think he cant do his job, then you should have the guts to give your name & stop hiding behind your friends nickname.

I know that everybody has a different opinion, that is why i totally disagree with you trev. Nalders commitment cannot be questioned, at all. Commitment as a coach, nor commitment as a leader.

I agree with you entirely trev.. mate i think u and all the other balranald supporters should stop whinging about the umpires from up here. i know u guys "lost" the grand final last year because of the "umpiring". get over it. can't keep hiding behind umpiring decisions when u simply aren't good enough. also do u seriously expect money will fix every thing?

Agree hansal, saw most of that game and didn't notice too much wrong with the blokes in white. Don't bag the crap out of them until you've got the nuts to have a crack yourself. Unenviable job, but posting a blokes name on here and pasting him like that is very ordinary.

You are still missing the point. I am not trying to argue for one clubs benefit.. Just trying to make a suggestion that may help everyone. The sooner ********ers like you realise this, the quicker that problems can be talked about and solved...
I am not a balranald supporter. That i can guarentee. Sadly i do belive money will fix the umpiring problem... take a look at the league.. if it was not for money the standed would be terrible... money fixed that.. Think logically.. Look at the goldern rivers.. There are a lot of middle age blokes, that have played enough footy , and would not mind an extra 350 in their pocket.. hard work and money..
