I blame daddy donuts for murdering his career. I wonder what would have happened if he just stayed at home as a forward instead of trying to turn him into a midfielder.
He would've been worse. The only time he played any good football from about 2018 onwards was as a midfielder. Hawthorn tried to move him back forward after the trade, that was what killed his career.

Was he me mismanaged though? Look how things panned out under Clarko, best coach of all time.
Soft tissue injuries began at Port did they not? Had he been injury free I’m sure he would’ve gotten back to his best but the physical issues were already there. Converting him to a midfielder and trying to make him more footy focused when he was a superstar without that may have still lingered with him mentally. We’ll never know for sure and it’s not good to speculate, so it’s best to just remember what a star we had for that brief time.

My love of watching AFL in general has dropped the last several years, so genuinely think I've only watched Chad 2 or 3 times since he's left Port. Strange to think he went from one of the players I loved watching the most to just disappearing while still notionally in his prime.

Knowing how his whole career panned out, would still 100% draft him again - just provided so much joy in those first few years.

A great player who will go down as one of the biggest what-ifs. His AA years and some of his 20+3 performances were obscene.
Have us a lot of hope our of those dark years.
One more reason it is a shame we couldn't get it done in 13-14.

GG, Wings.
Though deep down I knew it wouldn't ever happen, part of me hoped he'd get his body right and ask for trade back and play a couple more seasons at Port before retiring.
I'll be forever filthy we traded him. F**k what anyone else says.

The Chad a legendary player for us, and unstoppable at times.

Another great memory was his 2014 semi final against Freo at Subi when he kicked 4.
If only A Moore kicked that goal in the Prelim that same year:(

Burgess cooked him, and unfortunately for the Hawks they got the burnt chook.

Thanks for the memories Chad. Remember sitting in the crowd at AAMI when he kicked the winner in the showdown and I kept yelling "We've bloody pinched it!!".

The time has flown by.
