I honestly dont think it's any more competitive, it was just a way to add more teams, add more games and make more money whilst keeping the big teams relatively safe and able to progress into the competition.

We've seen it before where our players copped injuries playing in dead rubbers.

We lost Jota for a few months in a dead CL rubber a few years back. Had played key players like Fabinho and Salah in CL dead rubbers before that as well.

The main thing I enjoy about the current format is I get to see my team play a wider variety of clubs from other leagues. Its the main thing I enjoy about the CL.

I mean at a very literal level there are more competitive fixtures between the 'big teams' playing each other so even on that very fundamental level it's more competitive.

I don't think it makes much difference for the big teams. Small and medium sized teams get more matches against teams at a peer level instead of just being fodder for Real Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool etc.

Last season City had Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys in their group.

People getting nostalgic over the old format is crazy, it had been dull for about 20 years! The new format isn’t perfect but it’s definitely been better.

Big clubs fighting on the last matchday just to make knock outs. No safety net if they fail.
Last matchday all played at once like MD38.

The extra games in an already bloated seasonal schedule is my only negative.

The concept was fine barring the extra games (which were a big minus) but people were cynical because it's UEFA. It was their way to placate the big clubs and try and stave off another attempt at a Super League which will probably happen regardless.

Yeah the website isn't laid out great but basically;
City or Celtic have Bayern or Madrid, and the winners will get either Leverkusen or Atleti.
