City/Madrid have played each other in the CL every year for the last 10 years bar one season. Not sure you could bet on the CL draw but a City/Madrid match was always going to happen.

That said, City/Madrid, Juve/PSV, Feyenoord/Milan and Brest/PSG might be interesting matches.

Atalanta, Dortmund and Bayern have lucked out.

We wont know shit until we get our draw done.
Breaking news: Clubs don't know their opponent until after the draw is completed.

More news at 6.

So I’m assuming that the reason for waiting for the rest of the draw is to see who wins these second chance matchups.

Then the higher placed of the 2 automatic qualifiers plays the lower placed of the 2nd chance teams

Ie if PSG defeat Brest, they will be higher ranked than Benfica or Monaco so Barcelona will get PSG, and Liverpool vs Ben/Mon.
If Brest win, Liverpool will play them and Barca plays Ben/Mon.

I don't think it works like that. There's another draw on 21 February after we know winners of the play-offs. The winners of PSG v Brest and Benfica v Monaco will be drawn into either R16–1 or R16–8. Then Liverpool and Barcelona will be drawn into either R16–1 or R16–8. Liverpool and Barca will play the second legs at home.

Yeah ok i was assuming what you’ve written but decision on who plays who, not a draw.

I reckon it’s a weird system that would have Liverpool ranked 1 play a higher ranked team than Barcelona ranked 2.

But they should win anyway.

I would only agree with this if they brought back the away goals advantage.

If you have away goals, then you encourage attacking football. And removing ET means teams won't play for draws.

But only bring back the away goal rules IF you are skipping ET. I hated back in the day where the team at home for the 2nd leg had the disadvantage when it entered ET.

Away goals led to negative football.
Home teams in both legs parked the bus to avoid conceding.

I agree, you really should be encouraging attacking football with anything and saying home goal advantage. Away teams will be defensive anyway so why not encourage the home team to score more?

Didn't realise this is the 4th year in a row we've played Madrid.

Very interested in our lineup. Will Gonzalez play? Who will be at RB?

Answers to those two questions will determine my confidence levels going into the match. Currently not too high.
