Scorn Akers struggled a bit but he's young and did some good things. He also tried his guts out all day.
Puopolo stuffed a few crucial ones up.
Bateman was a disgrace. Staggered he wasn't subbed given his third quarter was as bad as his last. What pissed me off mainly was how he just stood around after stuffing up the disposal. Just weird to see.

As Leigh basically said in the commentary though, there's almost different rules for goal line contests like that, so was probably a consistent decision.

The many other umpiring blunders (the Hodge high contact, the Pu-Po HTB, and the utterly baffling Suckling 50m, to name just three), well, not so much.

Some terrible decision making by a few Hawks players went a long way towards them losing the game.....a couple of terrible umpiring decisions didn't help either ..but having said that ..the Hawks got a few soft frees in the first quarter.

We just remember the ones in the last quarter more.

A combination of Clarkson, Bateman and Rioli lost it for the Hawks.

Schoenmakers was bad, but no worse than normal.

Clarkson's tactics in the last quarter were woeful.

Bateman stank it up all night.

And WTF was Rioli thinking in that disastrous last passage of play for the Hawks? Slow as a wet week, and had no peripheral vision - at a time when he simply had to know to just drive the ball forward as quickly as humanly possible.

It was as bad as Dean Wallis' infamous 1999 PF HTB. I hope Rioli is criticised and burnt as much for that over the next decade as Wallis was for his - because it was absolutely shocking football.

Yeah North beat them a few years back when the umps bounced in the centre and the ball headed toward our end and we converted a goal, rules were changed after that.
