You've pretty much listed the extent of our healthy depth there.

Our injury list is getting out of hand and it's exposed our depth big time.

If someone told me Max Warren, Ben Brown and Brad McKenzie would be in our starting 21 this season in March I would have expected us to be sitting 15th on the ladder.

I'm going throw up if I have to watch McKenzie play another AFL game.

I can't believe any one thinks he deserves to be in the side after his efforts of the last two weeks?
Were you old enough to remember Adam Simpson starting out his career??

Id say with taking in the sub rule into consideration Mckenzie is tracking marginally better than Simmo tbh.
Hard to believe and many will probably disagree but thats my opinion. The lad need full games similar to what Cunnington and Bastinac was afforded, but our levels of expectancy has risen since those two started out.

Time to throw out the pop psychology book and use good ol' reward and punishment. The same stuff that people and hell even animals have used since, um, the beginning of evolution (or creation depending on how you swing) to condition behaviours.

With that in mind the suitability of seasoned or in form replacements and even the immediate game is less important than making a statement about standards for the club's future.

So out:

McKenzie. Not up to it yet. Needs to go back and smash the door down like Jacobs then come in and back it up.

Bastinac. Talented player, should be part of our core but gets away with an indifferent approach. Would be a big enough name to shake things up if dropped and isn't a scapegoat, deserves a week (or weeks) in the VFL.

LT should be named on the bench and given a scare. Has credits but did some soft stuff this week.

Adams. Love Patch but his output was poor. He'll be back but on performance must go this week.

Dal. Name on the bench. His defensive effort has really trailed off to make for a bad example.

Brown. Still think he's a year too early. No friggin preseason for a 1st year player. Don't care if he's older he's never done an AFL preseason and is 200cm. But maybe his long term development will be better for this taste. Anyway time to go back now.

Warren. I'm not nearly as bearish about his prospects as some but structurally Lachie is needed more.

Anyway that's 5 out and 2 put on notice. I'm hesitant to include Black because it sounds like he's in the Ziebell camp of being asked to keep playing with injury.

Whoever put it in for their VFL side gets a go. If that's LA, Wright, Scott Mc, Hine so be it. I'm not into blocking their return because of some preconceived notion. If availability means someone comes in with poor form then they're clearly alerted to getting a bonus unwarranted opportunity but if they work hard and do the job it's their spot to lose.

He was pretty crap until '98. Can't really recall enough to compare him with McKenzie though - BMac certainly a better kick though!
EXACTLY, AND HE ENDED UP OUR CAPTAIN....I see potential in BMac and would hate to see him blossom elsewhere. but Im prepared to offload Adams and Basti.......this would send a message throughout the playing list. Shame really because I think basti can be a gun but we need to look at this as a Swatta / Grant trade.

From today's presser: We'll make changes... but the 22 that were out there are capable.

I think I'll just wait and see.
Still not convinced we played 22. Easy to spot the four on the bench (playing their Gameboys and sipping Milo) but any shot of the ground seemed to show North players outnumbered 1 to 3.

The question isn't who's putting their hand up to be dropped. We have heaps of blokes putting their hand up for that. its who we going to replace them with?

who is fit
Maj
LA
McMahon
Wright

Harper
Turner
Wallace
Wilkins
Wood
Hine
Dumont
Currie
McGuinnes

Of that lot who are the guys who have performed consistently at VFL?

if we brought in the highlighted I will throw up.

“I’m after a ruthless attitude from our players and I’m not getting it at the moment,” Scott told the media on Monday.

“Players in one way, shape or form reflect their coach so that tells me that I’m not being ruthless enough with them.

“I’m demanding a ruthless attitude and they are not delivering it, so that reflects on me.”

Yep. Thanks to injuries the cupboard is pretty bare. Jacobs is the only seconds player that could consider himself hard done by at points this year. He's the only one would possibly have been pushing blokes out due to his own form rather than a case of rolling the dice (Brown over Maj) or sending a rocket up someone.

In all seriousness, McKenzie has got to go, one or both of Basti and Patch, and Maj for Brown has to be considered again. Black must play IMO, as we simply don't have an alternative to him. A rocket must be delivered up his arse, but we can't drop him. Young Warren may also go, depending on balance of the side.

Simpsons's 2nd year (96) was better than anything Bmac has put up. Played every game including a premiership. Think he played 2 very taster games with no impact in 95.

Simmo started as an erratic half-forward/mid with a bit of an x-factor type despite the kicking style before becoming a more blue collar mid. No idea what stats would say but Simmo at the same age/stage wins easily to the naked eye.

I would suggest that Wood could probably come in for Black.

For your entertainment: disposal wise McKenzie has him beat both in 2nd and 3rd year despite starting as a sub in 6/19 games.

I just went through the 96 stats ....we'd be screaming for him to be dropped back then.
