Given Fog has needed a 2nd scan, really not worth risking.

Assuming Butts shoulder still an issue.

In: Keane, Milera, Taylor, Jones, Gollant
Out: Fogarty (inj), Parnell (inj), Schoenberg, Murphy, Sloane

B: Michalanney, Murray, Hinge
HB: Doedee, Keane, Milera
C: Sholl, Soligo, Dawson
HF: Pedlar Walker, Keays
F: Gollant Thilthorpe, Rankine
R: O'Brien, Rachele, Laird
I: Jones, Berry, Taylor, Himmelberg
Sub: Smith

I love your optimism. No way those changes will happen

Another Roo decision..

Roo would’ve done the interviews.. and gone for a coach that was a “yes” man that would agree with every direction Roo wants to take..

if he’s meddling with Burgess’s fitness program and demanding his own ideas on the fitness program be incorporated.. and in the process pissing Burgess off to the point Burgess wants out.. then the Roo needs to be flushed..

What possible reason would Roo have for getting involved in the fitness program - why would he even care to be involved?
People run with some ridiculous bs on this board
I could see Nicks getting involved - as coach - and maybe contradicting Burgess, not Roo

Just a theory I have..

Reacon Roo is a micro manager type who has to have control of everything..

We all thought things would change when the club got Dunstall in to do his review and it ended with a big clean out..

but nothing did really change other than a broom through pyke and the coaching and fitness team..yet the same strange policies continued, the same dumbfounding mistakes, the same incompetence.

there’s been one main constant over this period.. Roo.

he’s a club great.. one of the best players to play for the crows.. but I don’t think he’s the greatest Football Director. He’s been there long enough and presided over the past five years of utter failure.. this years very quickly looking like a sixth..

the worst period in the clubs history.

all on his watch and he has openly stated that he refuses to leave the role until the “job of rebuilding the player list to be a premiership contender is finished”.. his words.

hahahaha.. well, fxxk me Roo.. you’re setting yourself up for a job for life the way the current rebuild is tracking!..

Did the board tenancy changes happen? If so he can’t be footy director for much longer, he won’t be on the board thank ****

President Roo Xi. Job for life. Not a lot of hubris from Roo with the rebuilding statement. Does he honestly think he is capable of building that premiership list and therefore premiership success is dependant on him staying? Pease find another interest as I can't take another 10 years of this shit.

I would bring in Jones rather than Milera to replace Parnell. I would also leave Himmelberg in defense over Butts given Butts needs to get his mojo back.

Gollant for Fogarty makes sense as does the Keane call. Sloane as sub is the right call.

I am keen to see them shift Laird back to HB and go with a midfield of Berry, Keays, Pedlar, Rachele and Soligo

Himmelberg didn't look good down back imo. I would prefer to bring in Keane, more aggressive and better defensive and offensive qualities than Berg. I would prefer Thilthorpe and Gollant for Fog(if injured) and Berg.

Agree on Jones over Milera. I can't see Laird going anywhere. If he has a couple more bad games they may look at it but he is pretty much locked there.

Can't wait to see how we shuffle the deck chairs this week... :$

Im honestly expecting just the one forced change: Parnell (inj) - Butts.

You just know the AFC will do it..... "Backing the boys in to respond, get consistent"... "DNA"...."You try telling Sloaney he's not playing..." :drunk:

Himmelberg was a dud in defence - totally at sea. Just drop him

god I wish they’d just get Blighty in there for a year to help mentor Nicks..
Yes!! I've been thinking same for some time now.
I give Nicks credit for his patience in 2020, hampered as he was by Assistants from the Pyke era as well as seriously disgruntled senior players whose dreams of a Flag had been shattered by 2018-2019.

However, if the Club had shown some initiative and imagination, they coulda tried to get Blighty in as a mentor (as you said) to the new Coach. Too late now; the damage has been done. Nicks would be unlikely to welcome him at this stage. If I was Nicks, I'd have been calling Blight as often as possible, like Hardwick used to with Clarkson. Goodwin had the benefit of Roos for 2 years before he took over @ Melbourne, winning the Flag in 2021 in his 5th Season.
Anybody here think that Nicks will take us to the 2024 Flag? ... (crickets chirping)

Interestingly, I learned yesterday that Ken Hinkley played under Blight @ Geelong 1989 to 1994 but I can't see much of Blight in Hinkley's coaching. While I still feel the pain of the 2017 GF loss, I can't imagine what 3 GF losses would feel like (Geelong/Blight 1989/1992/1994, the last by 80 points ), but as usual, I digress .

I rarely specify Ins/Outs --- like most of the things we discuss, Selection is beyond our control.

However, this week is crucial. A win is crucial. Beat Port, then Freo and Hawthorn to go 3-3 after 6 (Carlton @ Home, probable loss).
If we go 1-5, the Season is shot and the playing group will be seriously demoralised.
1-5 could easily become 1-9 until the Suns @ TIO in the NT ==> Nicks replaced.

Nicks has got to make some unexpected, imaginative and hard calls:
OUT: Parnell inj, Fogarty (likely inj), O' Brien, Himmelberg, Smith
IN: Jones (played well Sunday morning v PA), Gollant (marked well in the trial, kicked 6), Strachan, Keane, Borlase/Cook (or Taylor if he's ready)

Sloane to sub.
Dawson to a wing, running hard both ways <== absolute MUST! He's wasted down back.
Laird rebounding from HB (as he used to do, so well) with some time as a mid.
Release 194cm Keane to add some mongrel down back; Doedee free to intercept,
Strachan, not to go forward but playing loose a kick behind the play when Thilthorpe/Walker are sharing some ruck duties forward.

I know, I know, I'm dreamin'.

Nicks made it clear he didn't have any interest in that sort of scenario occuring (not Blight specifically, just didn't want anyone over his shoulder).

What a load of baloney.

Fair dinkum if you think Mark wields anything like that much influence over club appointments and day to day running of the club you're away with the fairies. Especially with Silvers and Olsen now in charge.
