As chairman of the get Hughes out committee I thought he was good today.

The thing with Tabs for me is he just looks like he can barely move and at nearly 30, is there any point sticking with him? He’d probably give more than Treacy but if Fyfe was available I’m sure as * not dropping Amiss.

Fyfe to the middle would solve some issues I suppose but I don’t think his body can survive it
Fyfe in the forward pocket with "break glass in case of emergency" cameos in the midfield is what his role should be

If he can be nursed through the year and come up with a just couple of quarters of dynamic footy late in the year when the big gorillas are crashing in, then all the anonymous games will be worth it

My take on Henry. He should have ended up on 3 goals. He was next to Walters for our first. He missed some easy ones, and he was open for another couple in which he was ignored. So his positioning is encouraging. His tackling and pressure was excellent. He also offers a bit more of a dynamic playing style which we have lacked. He has improved his capacity to work hard.
However, his awareness was bad. He made some bad clangers, with both decisions and execution. I am unsure, part of me wants him in for the potential upside, and excitement factor. I completely understand for him to be relegated. He needs to get involved in the play more as he does go missing.
I am sitting on the fence.
Excellent post

Line ball call on here I’d say on whether people would rather win games or be ‘ right all along ‘ about Liam bloody Henry

Without getting kissed on the dick with Shuey going out we would have got smashed in centre breaks and clearance again and probably lost that game by 3-4 goals

Centre bounce 1

Jackson , Brodie , Erasmus , Serong

Centre bounce 2

Darcy , Fyfe , Switty , Brayshaw

Out

Henry , Wilson , Johnson , JOM

In

Erasmus , Brodie , Walker , Fyfe

If Fyfe is fit I’d like to see him as the sub. Would be cool if he can come on halfway through the 3rd and attend some centre bounces to hopefully swing the midfield battle in our favour if we need it

Does the projected rain suit Adelaide or us the most? It might bugger their major strength which is their forward line, but we haven't exactly been mudlarks ourselves recently.
I would be even more keen on us getting Fyfe up to play if it's wet

The eagles were bloody gutsy in the derby and would have won admirers (including me) but the WA media with their “brave kids” and “unlucky injuries “bullshit is hilarious. When your team has 5 or 6 injury prone older players, it’s probably going to come back and bite you at some point. As for their kids, they should have culled their list and hit the draft way earlier. Allen is a star and Ginbey looks like a ripper, but chesser and Hewitt are unknowns at this stage. Also, why the hell did they give new deals to Nic Nat and Shuey? (Its the kind of piss poor list management that we would normally do)
Yeah They have about 6 that will not stand up to the pace of the modern game ,no use having them break down all the time ,The Eagles will go backwards before they go forwards, but Simmo will keep playing them ,Bazzo and Hough will be good players.

You got to think long term. Will Tabs be in a premiership side? No he won't so we have two two options, we either develop a second KPF to backup Amiss or we trade one in. I would rather find out sooner rather than later if Treacy is going to make it or not. I'm not saying now but later during the season I would love to see him get a patch of games.
Not really how it works though. Should north drop everyone 26 or over? Same for hawks, eagles, port…. Because none of those teams look like winning a flag in the next 4-5 years.

young players need the experience, strength, game plan, cohesion and leadership that older players bring on game day to develop properly - they develop better with some of that around them.

if you need my evidence have a look at how long teams like Melbourne and Carlton were carp for after tanking for draft picks by getting rid of older players.

i Have confidence that Treacy will get his opportunities this year when he’s ready.

Aish should be a full time mid, he's really impressed me with his cleanness inside and is surprisingly strong for his build- he has that "man strength" that you just dont have until your late 20s

Brayshaw and Serong are great players but their strengths are running and linking up in open play, they arent clearance beasts yet. Because Brodie has been a little off this year they haven't had anyone flicking it them at the coal face.

Jackson and Fyfe should also go in there for cameos when we need some power/dynamism/size/strength. I think Johnson looks like he might be able to add this to our midfield reasonably soon

In: Johnson, Walker
Out: Henry (to sub), Chapman (calf)

We need someone quick to play on rachele or rankine, and i think henry might work a bit better as a sub for now

IN:
Sturt - adds flare to the forward line, is a proper medium forward and it's worth a shot.
Treacy - Replaces Taberner, need him to get as many games as possible.
Fyfe - If he's fit, get him in.
Erasmus - Give the bloke a crack.

Out:
Henry - needs a run at Peel, disposal is terrible.
Taberner- He's done, get him out.
Hughes - Was ok today but his time is up with better players to come in.
Wilson - Couldn't think of anybody else I won't lie. The most disposable player left to pick from.
Yep Perfect

Doesn’t look fast and looks like he’s lost a step and his agility (which was always poor anyway) has declined. I think you guys defending him are being very generous on what he’s contributing at the moment given he’s supposed to be our number 1 tall. He played a role sure, but if Treacy or Fyfe played that same role today when the forwardline actually got half decent supply, I’m pretty sure they could provide that and more.

Having said all that, today was an improvement on the other weeks and him playing like he did a few years ago is the best way for us to be successful so given Treacy hasn’t played and Fyfe is underdone you just stick him probably and see if he can start to really get back some form
I think you guys defending Treacy are being very generous. Despite Tabs being quiet yesterday, Josh would have rarely matched that output in his 20 games, without taking the best defender. Disagree with your 'can hardly move' comment too. I thought Tabs ran fairly well yesterday.

Ok, so then we don't play Willo, Moose, Fyfe, Sonny etc either.

Yeo and NicNat shouldn’t got deals. Nisbett isn’t stern enough to do so.

What’s the point with 2 wins last season, keep the older players and win 6-8 games as projected when they’ll just retire anyway.

Agreed, except for the "might as well keep Tabs in the team bit". But that's just me wanting him out. ;)

so we should drop 2 defenders, plus the injured Chappy and bring in none?

wow. And against the crows too, not sure who plays on ranking and rachelle in your team? Sturt? Erasmus?

Feel like JOM will get a rest during the season.
Brodie, when he gets going, is great to watch and for the team. He started backing himself and instead of just disposing of it initially, took the player on and started accelerating away from the stoppage.

Could Joel Corey be the issue?

Taberner just has to go. If there is a shred of selection intergrity he needs to be dropped. No goals again on the weekend and several clangers.

Piss him off and swap out with Jackson/Darcy ruck/fwd rotation
