I think its the acid test for channel 9 tonight debuting footy. Even if it is International Rules.

Theyve already shafted all the states with p i s s poor coverage at all hours here in QLD.

I already miss channel 7 doing footy!

Once again brisbane and sydney viewers have to wait til some ridiculous hour. Hope this isnt a sign of things to come with channel 9.

Go Aussies and in particular the swans trio of goodes, nicks and maxfield..Oh and tadgh even though he is playing for ireland :)

Go Eagles I would like to know that too, but seeing that I am in a state that isnt' getting it till where near midnight..........I doubt I can help.

In calling ch9 this afternoon the exhausted receptionist barked "do you realise this must be around the 4000th time I have answered this question? NO they are not bringing the telecast forward"......for crying out loud if 4000 odd ppl had rung (and that probably is an exageration, but even if half was true, which is quite likely) doesn't that tell the bloody tv station something? Like that people WANT to watch it? Abso-bloody-lutely useless!!!!

Fox Footy Channel should have them.........heh.

Poor coverage- lacked atmosphere. Very amateurish.

A lot of lost links, drop outs, poor management...it BETTER improve & I'm sure it will improve heaps.

The rail camera on the sides was very good- a few of the others need fine tuning, the editor needs a bit more experience I think.

Funny to see Billy Brownless as the new "Dipper".

I thought C9's camera angles were far superior.

I completely agree. Ch7's camera angles were ordinary and boring, Ch9's new look is great! I love the low angle how the camera goes right down to the players shoulder and follows him through.
I thought their coverage was quiet good, nice to hear new voices in the commentators box!

Didn't it feel like we were watching a Ted Whitten tribute match a bit too much?

I agree some of the camera angle ideas were good- but still a lot of fine tuning to go.

the "roving camera" works well for a playing field as it was tonight but not for aussie rules so forget about that!
as for tonights broadcast there were a fair few stuff ups but lets wait until next year and see what happens.
i give edward his dues not one mention of collingwood altho dare i say if there was a pies player no doubt all camera angels would be zoomed in on him just to get edward enthused:D
cheers!

I've seen more stuff ups by ch7 on some matches and they've been doing for 45 years. I think we can let a couple of the "links" stuff ups through to the keeper on a first professional run/

They probably couldn't use the rail camera on the ground in an AFL match because of the distance between the fence and BL but I wouldn't be surprised if they use it at a higher angle on friday night matches. They also used the roving camera behind the goals which they also used in the legends match, which ch7 never ever used in an AFL match, even the grand final. They only used they type of camera for crowd shots.

Well, excuse me for pronouncing the name of our country wrong for all these years. I will say Austraya from now on, not Australia.

'Austraya' is not an Aussie accent.

Well, I thought they were pronoucing it "Australya" which is the correct pronounciation. (We can argue with the Macquarie Dictionary, but that's another matter.) They were far better than Drew Morphett in previous years.

Very interesting coverage. The camera shots used were quite good and the overall quality wasn't too bad. However I agree with Savatage that it felt like an EJ Whitten tribute match, I guess I'll be judgemental when the real season gets underway next year.

I know how you feel Danni....

Because Ch.9 here in Melbourne treats rugby league people with disdain, putting on games in the wee small hrs of the morning (if we are lucky!!!_

Why don't these stations stick to their contracts?
