11kgm and l finished our massive battle. we danced around for ages then beat the crap out of each other. I sacrificed my rook to win his queen. I popped the champagne and celebrated hard.
Then reality kicked in. A knight check led to a skewer costing me my queen. When the dust settled, l had a lost endgame - 2 pawns down and worse king position.
Well done, 11kgm !

Summary: We have a new entrant in the top 15, Tim Evans Beard . Is this a sign of a late charge?

Just a note: I will not be arranging any formal 'dibs' as we approach the final days, and the first challenge following the end of a game will still be classed as a valid challenge. Of course there are quite a lot of you still in the running for the top 3 and I hope that you will all will get your chance. For that reason, whilst I will not be enforcing it, I am expecting all of the top 10 to be having the chance of at least 1 further upwards challenge between now and the end of the month (i.e. to have finished their existing game and play one further game). At 11.59pm on 30 June, I will not be allowing any more challenges and the ladder position for prizes will be taken at the completion of any outstanding challenges. There will be a new ladder competition launched in the middle of July. Hope that's clear and have a good weekend!
