I think we are experiencing blockbuster fatigue, 4 out of our 5 games were high profile, massive build up games, only the giants game was off broadway.. it’s good to get exposure, but just ticking away a few games ion a Sunsay arvo without the pressure might be good for the team to regroup. Unfortunately next Sunday v Saints is likely to built up as a top of ladder clash so won’t get that relief.

We are getting very creative with the excuses.…

I don't think he gets sacked end of this year if we miss finals.

However, I'd imagine (hope) there will be some very strong advice from above that some things need to change, particularly around tactical nous of the coaching group and game plans.

Perhaps encouragement to bring in some extra coaching resources to help out in the areas we are lacking, and delegate more/differently.

If nothing changes or improves in the next 12 months after that (which will be 3 seasons in charge) then very good chance he's gone.
Wonder what Ash Hansen's mantra is like?

If we had taken LDU he'd probably be in the twos and Dow would be blitzing it at Norf

Am definitely concerned at the lack of development of some of our players who looked like they had plenty to work with early in their career (first year.)

Dow
Honey
Carroll

None have really come on as one would have hoped. There's obviously still time but it's not looking great atm imo.

We won't make the 8. Just have a look at our percentage. Playing with little to no structure. STILL have no idea how to enter the forward 50 other than bombing it in long and high. No passion. No heart. No desire or hunger.
People saying % doesnt matter if you keep winning, just look at Collingwood last year, gotta win 11-12 in a row for that to happen with low %

The draw is a factor. Unless there are more draws or we are directly competing with the Tigers for a spot we will always be 2 points over/under

It's early days but I tend to agree with the bolded unfortunately.

Played 5 teams, 4 of which probably won't make the 8 and the other one we played in terrible form (Geelong.) Yet what have we got to show? Less scoring than our opponents.

There's time for improvement but not a great sign.

The bomb-it-long forward line stuff just feels like high school footy. Yes other sides sometimes do it too, but only if they can't see better options. Us? It seems to be our Plan A...

I try to be optimistic and I think we should be making top 4 this year, being happy with just making the 8 with the players we have is in my opinion, accepting mediocracy, we under achieved last year and the year before.

Last year being the first season of a new coach, new assistants, new President, new CEO, there is time needed to implement game plans, set standards, build relationships and all that, so whilst I was disappointed like everyone else, missing the 8 was not the end of the world, it was mentioned last year by Voss and Sayers that we expected to play finals and I’m glad the President and coach accepted that pressure.

Now with two full pre seasons and a full season worth of developing the game plan and getting to know the players, I don’t see how we explain away not making finals if that happens this year.

I look at Harry, Charlie, Cripps, Walsh, Weitering and Saad and think if you put these 6 players in to any team in the AFL, that team makes finals.

So I’m hopeful but I’m worried, we have two of the best 5 key forwards in the game, both getting paid very well and we struggle to score, yet teams who have no key forwards and have makeshift forward lines score heavily, I worry we have tied too much money in two forwards at the expense of the rest of the side, but whilst trying to be optimistic, I worry about everything.

Don't put too much currency in press conferences. I am sure Voss is a monster inside the four walls, when required
You would hope so as the interviews after the game were far to accepting of that 1st quarter and even though we matched them for 2.5 quarters after that they walked the ball out of he centre square and the backline.

I just wonder if they were in holiday mode with Crippa swimming with sharks and the amount of PR given we were the first cab off the ranks. Doesn't take much to be 5% off.

It's a pretty big indictment for this club that * and St Kilda have flown past us this season. I am not referring to the ladder per se, more so in terms of the patterns of play.

We are also extremely lucky to have played Geelong in Round 2.

…swimming with sharks should make you more like a shark?

That's probably not an unfair point.

Would be curious to see how we went if we had to play them this weekend. Think we actually match up ok on them, don't think they're overly quick either.

The drop in my positivity from before the bounce on Thursday to today has been huge.

Before thursday I didn't think we were a great side but thought that maybe we would be able to drag teams down and win a scrap.

Now I think we're just not very good and the top 6 or so sides will deal with us pretty consistently and enough of the other sides will beat us that we don't make they 8 or we make it but are just making up the numbers.

The other problem is we are shit to watch. Slow, poor skills, rarely bold and lacking in intensity. Virtually no flair and certainly no mongrel .

Dull and disappointing .

Pretty much describing how most of us are feeling after Thursdays shit performance.

We haven’t been able to play that efficient brand of footy which also looks good on the eye. Makes viewing pleasant.

Gut busting grinding wins against lower opposition is painstaking to watch.

obviously still prefer to get the 4 points regardless of how we win but we’ve got to become more efficient which should be a better spectacle as well.

I have a sinking feeling that maybe we have appointed a senior coach who has many good qualities but really needs to be supported by a senior assistant/line coaches who can take the lead on our structures and systems. We seem to play with a worrying naivety, and I have little faith we will ever perform beyond the sum of our parts.
