Train horses, then race them, complete with bookmaking. Lots of fun.

This looks vaguely familiar, I think I played something similar.

And it reminds me of:

Horse of the Year - a showjumping game. Was actually my sister's but I played it plenty.

Some are still popular today. Have Hungry hungry hippo's and Connect 4 for my boys.

Ones my brothers and I had as kids - Monopoly, Sorry!, Holiday, Cluedo.

Board games are great. Still love playing them these days. Current ones playing are Forbidden Island, Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan. Playing board games with people >> playing games online.

I only really ever used the questions from the first couple of pages so I ended up knowing the answers off by heart

Holy shit. I hate cricket, but spent hours and hours playing this game as a kid.

Same with Sale of the Century really lol

I still play UNO today.

I got Sesame Street Uno. (Has an extra "Grouch" rule).

My fav board games as a kid would have been guess who, sale of the century, etc etc, ones that have already been mentioned.

Most detested games- Monopoly (boring) and cludeo (more boring).

Today I  backgammon. In fact some games of backgammon get bloody heated.... I have been know to throw the board in some instances. :D:eek:

Used to play this a fair bit.

Can still remember the TV ad for it with the Kiwi accents "ooh you sunk my bettleshup"

For some reason quite a few board game ads back then were from NZ. Pretty sure the ad for "Guess Who?" had Kiwis in it too.

blow those ping pong balls thru the straw.. and chip the tiddly winks!

Had that board game too. Loved the tv show but that game was so lame, had none of the thrills and skills of the tv show at all.

The Game of Life was definitely a game for Catholics. You had about 12 kids by the end of the game sometimes.

I still play games like Risk, Heroquest and Settlers, they never get old. Axis and Allies is another that's still great to waste away a day/night.

Anyone remember Polecomony? It was like monopoly but basically you were a fat cat that bought companies, shares and went for the PM's job. Backstabbing greedy fun for the whole family.

Loved this game as a kid. I've looked around for a copy to buy and can't find it - they don't make it anymore I don't think :(
