Interesting to hear Caroline Wilson and Gary Lyon tonight on Footy Clasified saying that they believe Chris Judd would be an automatic selection for AA.

If he keeps playing the way he's playing up until the team is selected I see no reason why he couldn't make it. Bloody good effort if he did.

Any thoughts??

Lots of politics in those AA selections unfortunately. The whole thing has lost a lot of cred. :)

Always remember Skinny missing out on selection.....Isn't KB on that selection panel...

Michael Jamison and Daniel Merrett are in the same boat. Both are having break-out seasons but only their own supporters have any idea it's happening. In about a year and half's time someone in the media might pick up on it, then it'll be everyone's opinion.

Meanwhile you'll still find people who will nominate Darren Glass as one fo the best full-backs of the year, when he's probably had the worst year of his career. It's just the way it works unfortunately, kind of like the Oscars.

Agree with the remarks about Jamo. Have loved the guy since I saw him play his first game. But he is still a well kept secret to the outside world. Won't get AA selection this year.

How good is it that we can even talk about our backline again...Waite, Thornton, Jamo, Bower and now Austin...not to mention Armfield...exciting times ahead

Based on the year so far, Judd and Fev are certainties for the 2008 AA team IMO. Gibbs and Waite would be in contention for an AA B-team if there were one.

yeah its called the Australian International Rules Team!

He'd be a show at AA. He's not the old Juddy, but he's been an absolute beast most of the year regardless. Playing more like a Simon Black (winning close-in contests, firing out clean handballs, laying tackles) than his usual dash and explosiveness, but that'll come next year and beyond.

I reckon Juddy will poll a lot more Brownlow votes than people may think, too.

I didn't think Hodge has had an AA year, but I might be wrong.

Joel Corey would be extremely stiff to miss out.

There are 16 teams, remember. Cooney has been amazing (until the last month), Brett Kirk has been super competitive all year, Black and Power up at Brisbane have been pretty supreme.

I reckon Judd might make it, but there's always unlucky guys.

Sometimes its better to be a very good player having a 'breakout' year than a superstar slightly down on previous years. Cooney will get AA this year, and Griffen probably will too, even though neither has been as good as Judd.

Ablett, Bartel, Mitchell, Hodge and Black and probably locks as well. For Judd to get in, you'd have to slot him on the bench or a flank. He deserves to be there, but probably won't.

In my mind, I don't know how he possibly couldn't be AA. The man is a freak.

But yes, the selecters may see it differently and would rather chuck in young break out players, particularly ones from very successful teams (i.e Geelong).
