Chris Masten biting allegation

Boy I wish we got assf**ked as badly as the eagles do by the AFL.

It must be so annoying the way they keep scheduling eagles members to umpire your home games.

Still complaining about the umpires from the weekend. There is a reason we got 20 free kicks in the first half.

Re watch the tape and let us know what free kicks werent there.

A lot of blokes if they were in a fight and had a forearm shoved in their face pushing down, would bite to get the other guy off of them.
If that's not the circumstances behind the bite, then Masten should get what he deserves

^^ And you're nearly 30, I'd be taking real life a lil more seriously and an internet forum less so. Also your suban all over masten? comment, you're showing 1 still frame from a video that went on for more than 10 seconds.

Hahaha I think my comment saying Masten is all over Suban is proving that I'm saying half my comments in jest.
Got nothing better to do on a train ride to work every day. Didn't realise i didn't meet an age requirement & needed a career (which I have considering you're interested in it) to post on big footy.

EDIT: The whole 1 second that Masten had Suban on top of him for probably was not much of a perceived threat.

was it long enough to decide he wanted to bit, put his mouth around his arm, and bite?

i still want to believe that it was either a graze due entirely to suban actions, or if there was a bite it was suban than put his arm there and the clentched jaw was due to pain.

If there was clear footage of him biting with no possible way it's anything else, you'd still say Suban grazed his arm or its his fault for being a thug.
If I was Masten, I'd be pretty nervous about that. I'd also get a hair cut

if it was a deliberate bite then id be happy with 3 weeks

I find it hilarious that people are calling for a bigger sanction for this than for a head high snipe 70m off the ball that has supposedly fractured someone's jaw.

Biting is absolutely shit arse behaviour if that is what he's done, but king hitting someone off the ball is surely worse?

Let's have a look at this objectively. What we have here is a video of Suban tackling Masten, followed by wrapping his arm around Masten's face and rolling around, and then Suban get's up and says he bit me. We also have a photo of Suban's arm that shows a mark on it, no definitive teeth marks, no blood. We also have a guy who I don't think has ever been suspended in his career, and never goes out of his way to start confrontations, and a guy who has a history of placing his body parts in peoples mouths, and who is well known for starting little fights and niggling, and not much else. Anything more than a fine with this level of evidence is a complete joke, if you say otherwise you are plain and simply lacking brain cells. Use some logic for once.

Wow...an ubelievably biased post asking others to look "objectively" and use "logic", the irony is strong in this one. If there is not the level of evidence to reasonably believe Suban's claim that Masten bit him then why would a fine be acceptable? Either he bit him and deserves weeks or he didn't and he should be exonerated.

Suban said Masten bit him, the video shows there was motive and opportunity for the bite, there is medical evidence which seems to support the fact there was a bite, and Masten didn't deny it when accused. Victim blaming is not an ethically acceptable means of defence, it doesn't matter that Suban is a tiprat, he shouldn't be exposed to being bitten on the field.

I can assure you that the level of proof you require to admit that a WC player did something as obscene as bite on the field is a lot higher than the MRP needs to find him guilty.

I'd agree, but sometimes there are offences that should attract a bigger penalty despite not being as dangerous as a king hit. A "Hopoate" finger isn't going to cause any real damage, but the idea of being digitally r*ped is repugnant, I'd rather cop a punch in the head. Offences like kicking, biting and eyegouging are, rightfully or not, seen as more offensive than a whack to the head. That being said, I would think that Silvagni deserves to cop a lot more weeks than Masten.

I think we're in agreement then, it is shitty behaviour, but it is ridiculous Silvagni could come away with a lower penalty.

spoke with a mate who works at west coast yesterday and he said they are expecting 4 weeks
Wow. I was thinking 2 weeks for the first offence, maybe with the benefit of the doubt over how it occurred as it was a headlock / grapple fight. If he was stupid enough to re-offend later with the same offence (Suarez) I'd then be throwing the book at him with at least 6-8 weeks.
