Heeney - 13 disposals at 38.5% efficiency - 74% game time (disposals per % of game time = 0.176)
Blakely - 11 disposals at 90.9% efficiency - 58% game time (disposals per % of game time = 0.19)

But lets not let statistics get in the way of making a point, right?

Not only did Blakely get more of the ball when he was on the ground, he was better with it.

Nice use of stats. You were being too diplomatic though; stealing your data...

Heeney: 13 x 0.385 / 0.74 = 6.8 effective disposals per full game
Blakely: 11 x 0.909 / 0.58 = 17.2 effective disposals per full game

Lots of touches vs. lots of useful touches. Matt Priddis vs. Scott Pendlebury.

Nice game from Blakely...complete absence of hype.

Sorry, I simply don't agree and it was just my observation from the ground, not stats. I was well aware that Heeney was on the ground longer. However, Heeney had Jonno (or another minder) for company and played really well given the attention he received. Any other first year player would have been overawed. I was surprised by how big he is, he is clearly a very good overhead mark, very clean with his disposal and has great goal sense. He will be a star.

I'm not knocking Blakely, he got some lovely touches, partcularly in the last quarter, which is why I originally said he worked well into the game. He is going to be fantastic too. I maintain though that Max had a great work rate, which surprised me given the training reports. He worked his way from the back half of the ground to the front half consistently all game - needs to work on his marking - but presented well. He did good things in close and is a nice kick. Pretty sure from his comments that Ross liked it too.

And yeah your response was passive aggressive. There's no right or wrong in observations.

How can you say Heeney was clean with his disposal when his DE was at 38%?

Heeney sticks out because of his mop of blonde hair.

At the ground, Duffy stood out way more than Blakely - for both his good work and bad. He may turn out to be a turkey, but there's something about him, the way he moves, the creative handballs he shoots out of packs. He's got a lot of tricks, and that should be nurtured.

He was better than Sheridan easily (who is a hair's breadth away from being stamped 'complete dud') and even Crozier who has disappointed me in the NAB Challenge. Does not show any signs of having a big season.

I only watched the game on TV and so undoubtedly missed things but to me there are a couple of problems with Blakey's numbers vs his role.
First an "in and under mid" with 0 clearances leads one to believe that the whole sidestep and clear comment made somewhere above is a tenuous at best. It also seems to say that his CP numbers (less than Heeney or Duffy) are all one-on-one contests, or close to, so not really a pack kinda game.
On the other hand Heeney may have poor disposal but with 1g2, 2 clearances and 1 CM, I have to say he showed a lot more than Blakey elsewhere.

It seems to me that of the two Heeney got a genuine chance to play an in and under mid role and Blakey was much more a wing type role. Consequently I would expect the DE% for a wing player to be much higher than someone who roves. 39% vs 91% is a bit much but I am not going to say there is a clear better performer here. If I was picking a team that I knew had Barlow, Fyfe and Mundy in the midfield I would take Heeney because in my mind I can afford the reduced DE% for an extra goal or 2.

PS
I would almost certainly have Duffy over either at this stage. Not just because he is my buddy but because we need more goals and he reminds me of the Wiz. nothing one game 3 goals the next.
