Against... the team that finished what, 14th last year?

You mean against the most improved team from last season. Last year Yarran wasn't playing too well, or down back. Last year you weren't reigning premiers ... welcome to the world of impermanence. Seems you've some catching up to do.

Strange, against Collingwood he dug a hole in the middle of the ground, and planted himself as deep as a spud could go. Then, against rubbish sides, he shines

 Yaz went pretty well against your mob, was in the bests; made a couple of your blokes look downright silly at times too. Geez if he'd kicked straight would have nailed a couple of sausages off HB.

There is no evidence, whatsoever, that the kid likes a genuine contest.

There is even less evidence that you know what you're talking about. Just watch more footy guy. Yaz has put his body on the line enough times to suggest he doesn't have an aversion it; although hard ball isn't what's going to make this kid a star.

It's all in how you spin it. Essendon '11 will be 7-12th. Yarran loves that kind of "challenge"

He didn't kick poorly, he flat out panicked. He looked lost with the ball. He found himself in damaging positions and flat out shat himself

I don't think he is a squib, at all. I don't think he has the heart to push through a full game. As I brought up earlier in this thread, he wanders off into dead areas of the ground when the heat goes up. He did it against Essendon and against Collingwood. Those are the only Blues games I've watched closely, but a number of teams in each game, he took off to the back of packs and spectated. Great idea in the forward line, awful down back.

HE might go hard at the ball once or twice a game, but it's his desire to do the basics in the whole game that have to be questioned. Surely

Spectated his way to six tackles.

It's his first year down back, so he has much to learn with positioning and he really needs to work on his defensive prowess in the air, but when the ball was on the ground, Yarran was untouchable yesterday.

out of the three amigos, one kicks goals, one only shows up in the last 10 minutes of games, and one is like a pack of trading cards, one day you get that super shiny platinum edition michael Jordan, the next day you get shaquelle o'niell taking a dump card.

Devastating was Johncock. Yarran just got uncontested kicks in the back half.
Agreed. They were right when they said Yarran would replace Seagull Squibbs. They lost nothing, both won't go man to man and neither can defend. Good kicks, most of the time, hang out of any contestand wait for their teammates to do all the hard work. Seagull 1 and seagull 2.
Two downhill skiers of the highest order.

And exactly how many times was he beaten by his direct opponent?

Easy to spout baseless rhetoric but unfortunately it has no basis in fact.

None. You have to have a direct opponent to be beaten by him.

And yes, I'm aware we lost to the Gold Coast, thanks in advance for pointing that out :)

Couldn't really give a stuff about that result in a Yarran thread. I had Port pegged as the most pathetic team in the league (on and off the field) well before today's debacle.

But to say that Yarran doesn't play on an opponent is plain wrong. Not that it matters when he's so damaging with the footy. :thumbsu:

with silky skills he was so far ahead he did not need stiff arms (was lazy when the ball reversed and rebounded I must say)

The Carlton supporter circle-jerking over this average-to-good half back flanker amazes me. I think they must've sent out a group email to all of their supporters trying to arrange a massive troll on the supporters for all other clubs. They'll be proclaiming Jordan Russell as the next McLeod next.
kicked winning goal

I wonder how many goals his opposition had last night, or better yet, how many touches.

 hmmm
