What press?

The get rich or die tryings might have learnt not to go too early

Love it.
North supporters everywhere underestimated his pace and were convinced that Wells could match him for pace. The looks on their face as he consistently blazed away and weaved in and out of their players was priceless.

Kudos to Garlett as well for that rundown tackle on Harvey. :thumbsu:

Would love to see him go in the middle for a few centre bounces and tear them up with his pace and hands. Play the old McLeod role. Maybe next year.

Has had a super year. Will poll well in the Brownlow.

Love Chris Yarran.

I'll take a 60 meter scything run from defence up the guts, and a precision 40m pass over Rich's left peg anyday.

Just a joy to watch such an attacking player.

The truly scary thing is, he's just getting warmed up.

He's only 20 and has played just 38 games.

The thing is, he covered so much ground last night...yet had so many fumbles. The MCG definitely suits him (and our team) much more.

His confidence has increased dramatically over the past year, it's so pleasing to see him still play his style, even after he makes mistakes. I think he would have gone into his shell a year back.

He's going to be a scarily good player going forward, keep it up Yaz :thumbsu:

whilst he has a really fantastic and exciting offensive game i was very close to starting a roast thread on him last week.

hes attack on the ball when he doesnt have it or another player is running at him really needs A LOT of work. In the last month i cant remember the amount of times he has pulled out of a contest or not gone in hard enough resulting in the other team getting the ball.

it really pains me to see him do this. i can understand him pulling out when there is a jono brown steaming at him more furiously than a coal train but he does it even vs the little guys.

please chris for the sake of the club, just get that little bit harder! it doesnt have to be a lot, but just go in and find that hard ball!

Hope so I put $30 on him to finish top 5.

I reckon Demetrio will call a few Carlton - C Yarran, when everyone wants C Judd.

Yeah, fair call.

Is just a pup so need to cut him some slack in this regard, will never be that hard at it midfielder type, really don't want or need him to be.

Have noticed him not take the body contact or try to tap the ball to advantage when taking the hit and locking the ball in would have been the better option.

The coaches have and will make him aware he needs to work on this aspect of his game.

Really think the kid could become a jet. :thumbsu:

I love most of what yarran does, but at times last night he would choose not to take the correct, easy option and instead go for the almost impossible pass/take a bounce and run himself into trouble. I know he will improve over time, but like SJ he needs to learn that sometimes harder doesn't mean better

That's it. :thumbsu:

Ridiculous how he dominates the statistic. Has had 91 bounces for the year - next best is Heath Shaw with 55.

Does bounce more than he needs to but surely he's covered more ground by foot with ball in hand than any other player this season?

To be fair on the rest of the competition, he bounces the ball every 5m. :p

Fantastic game last night, once he irons out the odd low disposal game he'll be a star. He is so close to being a star already and if he can build on his core strength, work on defensive work and gain another level of fitness he is going to be a scary player.

I hope he can take it to another level next year.

One area that he has improved in is his hardness around the ball. He at times has jumped on the ball and put his body on line which is a huge improvement on last year.

I see what you are saying and I agree but it was only half a dozen times out of his 27 disposals.

He is obviously told to take the game on and create which at times will get him into trouble. I'm not worried about this because he generally hits targets but it is an area he can improve on.

What would Lethal know about footy?
About as much as Voss after he recruited a 28 year old and outside midfielder to win a flag with Brisbane.

Pick 14.

Every commentator has their use by date...Too much time out of the game can have that effect on former coaches...Even the best of them.

Biggest improvement this year for mine has been his defensive work overhead.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. I can't remember the game, but recently he looked completely out of position in a marking contest on the flank/wing and somehow outmarked his opponent in a tangle of arms. He just stole the damn thing!

But, while I'm here, I'd just like to say there's been not enough love for Marcus Davies after last night's game (H/T to you TG). I think he was almost as good as the other defenders last night, which is saying something.
