Petracca's score output (goals + assists) is on par with McKays (goals + assists). Or in other words, they both contribute the same result on the scoreboard.

Key Forwards are overrated IMO. There is a reason Norm Smiths are generally won by line breaking goal kicking mids (including Trac, and Dusty x 3, Judd etc) and not by KPF's.

Have a look over the list and see what most of them have in common.
You would be mad to think Carlton need Petracca more than Harry. Let him go find another home, Harry is going nowhere

Petracca to Essendon and Peter Wright to Demons makes a lot of sense for both teams. Say Wright, 8 F2 for Petracca 45 & 51.
Petracca is a top 5 player in the comp, whereas Wright is an average at best inconsistent key forward, who has been struggling for much of this year.

Sounds like a rough deal for the Demons to me, regardless of the other picks involved.

Errrm... Petracca?

With Dusty gone, surely Petracca is currently at least in the conversation for the most damaging HF/Mid in the game?
Pre-injury Petracca yes, but it's too great of a risk to take on post-injury Petracca, especially for McKay. Actually, Dusty is the perfect example. He didn't come back the same after his kidney injury in 2021 that led to his decline and subsequent retirement. Barely played in 2022, had a couple of good games in 2023, barely played in 2024 then retired. Petracca's injuries are much worse than Dusty. We're also yet to know the full extent of his mental trauma. His injuries are likened to that sustained in a car accident.

If Carlton were smart, they'd be all in on Houston and stay clear from Petracca. Carlton can't afford to be taking risks like that with their injury-prone list in the middle of a premiership window.

Yep what's McKay do to help curnow? Plenty and he's a great kick down the line get out trouble option. You trade McKay, you only have curnow fwd of centre that will worry teams

This is a bit lazy. Harry is a fantastic kick, had a terrible case of the yips last year, but has rebounded strongly this season.
McKay is a bit of a victim of people recalling some of the misses he had last year when he had his rough patches, but his kicking for goal this year has been very good (and miles ahead of Curnow, who people just don't scrutinize as heavily).
It's a very fair point.

For what it's worth, I hope Petracca stays with Melbourne and Oliver can get back to something like his best.
Petracca is comfortably a top 5-10 player in the competition when he's fit.
Before Oliver's tribulations and Petracca s injury,.the Dees had 3 of the top 15-20-odd players in the comp together with Gawn.
If Petracca really does.go, unless it's absolutely unsalvageable,.Melbourne would want to see quite a bit more than Peter Wright and half a chiko roll coming back the other way, tbh, or whatever some are floating.

If he's really committed to it, there is a clear path for Petracca to get out of Melbourne.

The fact that it was Collingwood players who had to tell him to stop playing is very damning.

With his injury you can diagnose it just by listening to him breath, don't even need a stethoscope. They should have used one anyway and other assessments but they didn't give a shit about him, they just wanted to give a Panadol and send him back out.

This isn't exclusive to Melbourne, I've seen plenty of incidents throughout the year where players should stop playing but get sent out. Need an unlimited bench to fix it.
I reckon once he starts showing up to the club with his personal lawyer, and workplace safety complaints start appearing in the FWC, Trac might just find the Dees are amenable to his request after all.

Petracca is a gun no questions, would love him at the Blues but not by trading H, H provides us so much runs the wings when we need a get out kick, has a tank, kicks goals. Petracca is 29, he has been battered and bruised, still a gun could probably help us win a GF. But not trading H for Petracca, if we do that then it will be another big mistake in a long line of mistakes, and the club will just prove to me we are stupid.
