He had to stand down from his job and his career is in ruins based on an allegation.

Do you think that is appropriate?
Fine - conduct an inquiry to clear him…oh that’s right, this isn’t any old job, be careful what you wish for - trying to take the moral high ground here is a strange move - the ball is in his court

Yeah there’s another interpretation possible mate. Viewed objectively, while Labor are no choirboys and certainly had a bad record on treatment of women in the past, as things currently stand it’s the Coalition that is kicking all the own goals right now.

Your claim to only be concerned that due process be followed takes a hit with barracking posts like this.

Retrospectively yes due to conduct re blind trust.

You still don't get it do you?

There is no way he can clear himself because his accuser is unable to be cross examined.

How can Porter ever clear himself?

The LNP and ALP are both inept. Shockingly so. For many years, I have genuinely wanted a reason to vote for the ALP, as have many people.

The ALP have won 1 election outright in the last 30 years. Yet, they continue to blame external influences, like the Murdoch press, rather than reflecting on why so many people see no future in the ALP.

He could have allowed the evidence to be public?

But he instead instigated legal proceedings to make sure it remains secret. Why is that? If Porter has nothing to hide why is he going out of his way to hide as much as he possibly can?

And rightly so;

1/ Porter sued the ABC
2/ Porter reviewed the ABC’s defence.
3/ Porter withdrew his case as a result of seeing the defence.
4/ Porter instigated legal proceedings to ensure no one can see the ABC’s defence.

Exactly what are we to infer from this?

He didn’t withdraw the case was settled.

OK getting a bit off track here.

Bottom line, the Coalition and Porter have no-one to blame but themselves for their hamfisted response to the allegations.

Easy to attack the messenger while not addressing the message.

She is one of the central, most directly informed on this matter. Along with James Hooke and a couple of others.

What a pity the alleged anal rapist has, despite parading about saying he'll prove his innocence, not only cut and run when the opportunity to have the case heard in a court setting was there for him but gone to great lengths to stop us from seeing the defence evidence.

Also, taken other quite unorthodox steps like setting up a blind trust to pay his legal bills in a manner blind trusts were never intended to be used.

Protected by arguably the most corrupt government in our history. Certainly recent history.

I disagree.

Any reasonable person reading the allegations against Porter, in conjunction with all of the material, could only conclude that the alleged victim was not a credible witness.

The left leaning media outlets cherry picked portions that suited the narrative they were looking to put forward.

Porter never stood a chance.

Didn't she lose contact with the alleged victim for nearly 30 years?

All they had to do was for him to stand aside while they held a credible, non-partisan enquiry, to show that their intentions were honourable. But that's not their way. Porter decided to lawyer his way out of it, and in the process, showed Australia we had an incompetent dolt as our chief law officer.

He shouldn't be in parliament, should have been kicked out.
Are we just supposed to believe his account because he could fake crocodile tears?
Yeah.
Nah.

To quote Spiderman, "With great power comes great responsibility". If you are a Minister of the Crown you don't get to pretend cry like a little bitch to make a serious allegation go away.

You have just provided a defence for every murderer whose victim is unable to be cross-examined, you know due to being dead.

The lengths these people will go to defend their corrupt puppet masters is truly astounding.

The newscorp propaganda machine has infected their little brains better than any cancer ever could.

Aren't you the least bit curious about what James Hookes has to say?

He says he has relevant information but will only tell it to a proper enquiry. Looks like there will never be one.

And now we know what it's really all about:

Argument from incredulity, also known as argument from personal incredulity, or appeal to common sense, is a fallacy in informal logic. It asserts that a proposition must be false because it contradicts one's personal expectations or beliefs, or is difficult to imagine.

Makes no sense.

The allegations against Porter have destroyed his career.

They can never be proven or refuted. That has been admitted by the people who released the dossier.

To me, it is a shocking state of affairs.

If an enquiry were to be held, then surely the women's state of mind and character would have to be examined.

Criminal, medical records would have to be subpeanoed and examined.

Just imagine the storm that would engulf the media?

It is a tragedy all around. I'm sure the women's friends are acting with good intentions. I'm sure they believe her.

But, it is never right to gut someone's rights to advance any cause, no matter how just that cause may be.

No. Because it would be hearsay. Next question.
How do you know what he has to say is hearsay?

Are you privy to what he has to say, what relevant information he has?

He only wants to present to a proper inquiry, that is fair I would think and the legal system can decide its relevance and legal standing.
