Seriously I dont even know why the Tigers even bothered to keep him, the guy for sure cant play hell he cant even make the VFL Reserves for crying out loud. I'm surprised we decided to keep him on the list, when in fact there is probably more players out there more deserving than Hughes.

I dont see him ever improving his game and if he does it wont be much. I even believe a 12 year old junior could play better footy than Hughes. Your thoughts?

Talent which he has failed to show alot since coming to the club. You dont keep a player on talent cause it will be a waste of time for the Richmond Football club. Hence a waste of 1 player on the list there for playing 1 player short.

Cleve Hughes in the two seasons he's been in the AFL manages 6.5 disposals per game, 4.1 kicks per game, 2.4 handballs per game, 2.6 marks per game, 1.1 goal per game and 1.1 tackle per game. Thats in average out of the 10 games he has made, he really hasnt shown much.

Hell the guy can hardly get into the COburg senior side let alone the reserves, I think Hughes' time is up and done IMO, really we shouldve traded him or something along those lines.
 
Very slow and lazy. Needs to work on that side of things and have a crack.
Also i noticed in the Coburg Grand Final if he went for the ball and didnt get it he would crack the sads. He's gotta get that part out of his game aswell otherwise hes gone.
 
For goodness sake. How anyone could talk Hughes up is beyond me. Seriously what has he done to keep his place on our list. I went to many Coburg games this year he found it very hard to get a kick at a lower level for Coburgs firsts and Seconds. Its in our best interest to show him the door come the end of 2008 when he has another failure of a season yet again!
 
Wouldnt be surprised if Wallace had signed him up to a 3-year deal like he did JON, worst move they could make there IMO and I really cant see Hughes' be in the side by 2009, he'd be long gone.

Its clear he is a waste of space. There is nothing he can do to change that. Cause face it he will never be any good. He is only worried about 1 thing and its clearly not the football.

This time last year he was touted as richo's future replacement, now you halfwits are calling for his head.
Was one of the only of all our player to stand up against the cats when we got belted. Again peformed well against the eagles the week before, when again we got belted.

Of all the players that should be attacked on our list he is one that should avoid critisim. Has done enough to suggest that he in the future can hold down an key post and turn a game on his own boot. Lay off him!

Garbage.
The club has sent him a clear message with the demotion from the Coburg Tigers from the Grand Final line up and his performances at Coburg were nothing to write home about during the year.

He is not owed anything and needs to pull his finger out or he can go back to Adelaide.

Just to give you a clearer idea Buddy Franklin is the same age as Cleve and they are poles apart.

Cleve has to lift big time next season.

Did you play 76 games for Richmond???

Definitely worth persisting with. For starters, we are too light on for KPP's with 2 years under their belt.

Start this thread 12 months from now and I might agree with you.
 
When Hughes first played against essendon in the dreamtime match, I said he was going to be good for us, still have faith in him but needs to bulk up and smarten up, he seems pretty lazy, but has shown he can kick goals, but he does it in little spurts like Shultz used to have one good quarter then we'd barely hear from him.
But I'd rather see Shultzy play next season, cos the photos I've seen from training, he looks like he's turning into a bit of a unit.
 
Yeah I like the big fella one of my fav players
does hav a turning circle of a small truck.
Has kicked goals when played 4 richmond though that is promising
 
Lack of success means that teams like the Tigers run out of patience much sooner than successful teams. Good teams also allow guys like Hughes to have more successful introductions as they share the ball better, have better delivery into their forward line and block and sheppard better for the young ones. Often they are introduced into the senior team a year or two later after more preseason conditioning.

Only out and out freaks would have starred in our forward line over the last few years.

Then there is the problem of Richo. As much as I love the guy, I feel that he stifles the development of any other young KPP by demanding the ball all the time and running into their zones. The young guys then feel that they shouldn't get in his way, don't work hard on the lead and become disillusioned at the way the game plan IS NOT instituted. I know for a fact that Wallace has pulled his hair out on many occasions because, for all the planning to share the ball around and NOT become RICHOCENTRIC, the plan goes out the window as fast as the whistle is blown to start the game!

So leave guys like Hughes, Riewoldt and even Schultz a bit of slack. The post Richo era is now only around the corner.
