You know it is funny, I thought no way could things get any worse.

Now they gave 53 man roster control to a lawyer who ran a govt agency in 2012.

God help us.

This is why I don't understand people questioning why someone would choose to follow the Browns. For half the teams in the league, their season is over. Ours is just starting. In the last two days, we've made more headlines than most teams do in a year. It's always exciting!

As for the new hirings, it's going to be interesting to watch. We've tried the usual approach of bringing in old football minds, and it's never worked before. Why not try something new? I read one article which said it'd either work and we'd be years ahead of the rest of the league. Or it would fail spectacularly, but we'd be no worse off than we are now. That sounds about right. And while I might be in the minority, I tend to think that the guys in charge are smart enough to know what they don't know and hire some 'football' people to surround themselves with.

I'm expecting a completely new team next year. Manziel is gone, we'll probably ship Gordon off for whatever we can get. Wouldn't surprise if analytics suggested we send Thomas and Kruger off to the highest bidder too. And at least there won't be any more Bowe like contracts.

I know you don't like Manziel but Hoyer necessarily isn't the reason Pettine has done badly.

Recruiting Dwayne Bowe as a marquee offensive player is a step towards shite for example.

Thought this was interesting, especially given our discussion:

I really believe Pettine’s downfall was in not standing up for quarterback Brian Hoyer after the 2014 season and advocating his return in 2015. He was outnumbered, of course – Haslam, President Alec Scheiner and GM Ray Farmer all wanted Hoyer out. But Pettine showed no backbone and I think several players took note. Pettine’s record with Hoyer as starting quarterback was 7-6. Without him, Pettine was 3-16.

Million and one reasons and opinions.

Bottom line is that after being involved in the killing of one coach , Manziel won't be able allowed to kill another.

I understand and really our discussion earlier wasn't so much a Manziel issue as it was a Pettine issue. As you know, I go further than TG and would say he came up small after Atlanta and the stuff after the season was just icing on the cake.

Regardless, matters not now--but I thought it interesting that a guy that covers the team chimed in with a similar sentiment.

Quarterback controversies especially where the owner and the coach disagree rarely end well.

Agreed--but boy if I had known everything Pettine did at that moment, I would have absolutely said Hoyer is the starter the rest of the year win, lose or draw---period.

If Haslam had fired Pettine for that with the team at 7-4 and sitting in first place...I am fairly sure Pettine would be THE hottest HC candidate today--bar none.

In the end it matters not and we move on to the next mess. ;)

Will you be rooting for the Bengals to win the Super Bowl?

My playoffs are easy to understand every year.

Barrack for whoever plays the Squeelers.
Barrack for whoever plays the Broncos.
Barrack for whoever plays the Patriots.
Barrack for whoever plays the Ratbirds.

Once all those teams lose---my season is over.
In the event they play each other--Bronco's over all of them.
Patriots over Squeelers and Ratbirds.
Ratbirds v. Squeelers I pray for the earth to swallow both teams up.

You still want Hoyer back Crow? :p

He made it difficult to back him yesterday that is for sure. Even Chico was disowning him last night. ;)
