Does anyone know his status? is he ontrack to be back for Round 1 next year?

I think Young is one of the most underrated Hawk player by opposition teams.

His long kicking over midfield zones was sorely missed last year, and I think he'll be a key in to our setup going forward.

At this stage, probably doubtful.

One of four players who will have interrupted/non-existent pre-seasons; Croad, Young, Bailey, Burgoyne

Good news is that is seems to be only four at this stage "according to sources"

Pretty severe surgery, I believe...a fair bit of bone shaving/ reshaping of the ball joint.

So not just a minor tuck, so who knows.

The club wouldn't know exactly when he'll play, so the doom and gloom poster wouldn't know either.

Now, people often tell me to go easy on other posters (more often than not trolls), but I reckon we need to ease up here.

I was talking to XXXXX (you've got to take my word from it that's a good source) at a media breakfast, and he told me that Young had had quite radical surgery.

And while 'he might not play again' might be the worse case scenario, conversely, Young having a full preseason might be being overly optimistic.

Fingers crossed that he recovers from the surgery well, but no one really knows how long it will take and how successful it will be.

By the way, do we know how he got it? Was it from the GF? That didn't seem that bad... (famous last words... :()

And who is your source
You are kidding aren't you.
If people said everything they know and quoted where they got it from do you really think they'd ever be told anything ever again. Grow up.

Back to the OP, I didn't think this one was not well known. All I'll say is look at players who have had a serious Hip injury and 1. Made it back to A grade footy and 2. If they were the same player afterwards. The facts speak for themselves if you look them up. Look for Savage to be our next Young.
It also might give people a reason to reconsider why we went after Burger even though he's bloody injured as well.
Good luck to Young Clint whatever way it goes.

Don't know why you'd name your kid XXXXX. It's just asking for them to become a pornstar.

Ryan Houlihan had some pretty major hip surgery and made it back to footy, lets hope youngy can do the same and still has the power in that booming leg of his

This is true. When he tries to go at full pace, pain sets in. To do with his grand final injury not being taken seriously enough amidst the celebrations.

Was talking to his uncle about it a couple of weeks ago.

Strange considering his GF injury was an ankle and his current injury is a hip.

Did it spread from his ankle to his hip ?

Very possible. Jesse Smith from the roo boys is said to have all sorts of problems now that have stemmed from his badly broken ankle. You tend to favor something when you injure it which can put undue strain on other parts.

I had a sore lower back for months, walking around bent over etc, went & saw a heap of people who prodded & pocked me but couldn't fix it. Ended up with a family friend giving me a neck massage, found a ligament 'out of its grove', popped it back it (jeeezus that hurt!!!) & two days later I was fine. Pissed off  but fine :)

Now he's injury is obviously a bit worse then that, but you see my point.

He was compensating for his ankle and stressed his hip I think is how the story goes.

The prognosis from within the family is a fair chance he won't play again.

Haven't given up but do a bit of head shaking when they talk about it.

Really feel for Clinton, was improving every match he played. From a personal experience, when I was 18 I injured my hip playing footy, had surgery to repair a cartliage tear and shave the ball and a few months later due to me compensating my other hip went. Im 24 now and still cant run consistently and am always in varying degree's of pain. Hips are a biatch to get over.

Good luck to the man.

I can confirm what Grizzly and a few others in here have confirmed. He lives not far from me, and he writes an article in our local paper. He has had an unusual hip operation, and this is the reason they don't know at this stage, whether he will play again. They are optimistic, whilst also doubtful, because of the type of operation he had, is not the usual run of the mill hip operation. I have to say, it is looking doubtful that he will play, but they are giving him every chance to come good..He is a terrific person, and I hope he makes a full recovery, BUT, not looking good..It's just one of those wait and see situations! Good luck Clinton!!We want you back out there next year...
