Following on from his angry rant after the game on Saturday, they have closed the training session today in Perth.. Here is hoping that they do what the Kangas did and get some anger and passion into the players..

There will be a turnaround.. I have faith...

That's what pees me off about this club, fans are secondary, profit and bottom line are more important. Took my boys along to training, of which there was none, so went to harbourtown instead.

Get to Harbourtown and find I can get a Dockers training singlet, looked nice too, for $29.95, but if I want an Eagles one it is $59.95. Can get a Dockers purple jersey for $59.95 whilst the Eagles one is $99.95.

It's the unfortunate downside of being a successful club particularly one that has a ceiling on the number of members it can have. Essentially, they haven't had to do anything to promote themselves and try to encourage members to join. Existing members aren't likely to give up their memberships because they know they won't get them back as there are plenty of others all too keen to take their place.

The club knows this all too well and does little to look after it's supporter base. Freo have had to develop their membership base and do it far better.

Yep. Schedule an open training session on a public holiday and then cancel it about an hour after the Chairman comes out and supports some aspects of the story Duffield was writing.

More evidence of Barnaba not falling at the feet of Woosh and unfortunately more evidence of Woosh not liking it.

It's a public holiday and you will be far from the only one who went to that session - the club should ****ing apologize.

Spot on there. There were about 30-50 cars parked on the grass outside Subi and I could see 20-30 people sitting on the lawn waiting. So yes, seriously poor form, as Lach put it. Apology, I can't see that coming, but yes.

Agree with the bit about Barnaba, but that's the way we need it, isn't it? Everyone has to answer to someone.

Buy the Freo one, you know you want it.

The funny thing is, I almost did E-Shed, I was so close to it. It's only for me to wreck as I try to lose weight and get fit, again..:p My 10yo son wouldn't let me!

Thoughts on Nisbett?

He appears to be highly regarded within the AFL but IMO he was at the core of our culture problems and comes across as the one person within the Eagles heirachy that you don't want to get on the wrong side of if you value your job.

If it's true that it was a Cook or Nisbett scenario several years back, we backed the wrong horse.

Good to see that your son has at least retained his common sense

I agree entirely.

I can't believe the responses on here..

Most supporters are jumping up and down and ranting about how its the end of the world as we know it because our form has been terrible, yet when our group calls for a training session to be behind closed doors, so they can obviously try and get things back on track you bitch and moan then too.. They can't win...

I see it as only being a good thing....

And the reason I am comparing it to what North Melbourne did is cos it appears to have turned their season around..

Hold it on Tuesday...or Wednesday...or Thu....

Why? There is some urgent work that needs to be done with our team... we need to start straight away..

I live in Sydney so only get to see them once a year at training (if that) and if they had of cancelled Friday's training at the SCG I wouldn't be cracking it, I would be thankful that they are addressing the issues..I definitely wouldn't be talking about buying a friggin Freo shirt..

As much as anything it's the late notice.

Had they said yesterday the training session was closed it would have at least given supporters wanting to go the chance to change their plans.

The problem isn't that they decided to close the session more the way that the club has on entrenched problem in looking after their fans

Totally agree.

We missed a golden opportunity to reinvent WCE positively during our collapse in the 2007 post-season. Instead we papered over cracks, sacked people with the ability of Tony Micale, employed people with the ability of Peter Worsfold and Michael Broadbridge and allowed dispirited players playing only for their mansion mortgages to become our "senior players". The new breed is really just a collection of very nice people who visit sick kids in hospital and save Trevor from embarrassment off the field. Trevor being forgiven and becoming an AFL bigwig seems to be the focus of the club still.

We get your point but the club promoted this as an open session right up until late last night.

I have spoken to the club since this thread started and it was cancelled by the coaching staff who didn't notify the front office until about an hour before it started.

That's pretty piss poor on a public holiday when the club itself has been promoting the day.

If you reckon one session will solve everything then you are frankly clueless. If you reckon one session did it for Norf, then same again...

The club has some obligation to it's fans in WA who can't get to see them play and that obligation is increased when it's an event promoted on the clubs website ...

I don't think anyone's really jumping up and down and ranting and raving, some good humour is in there, but the point is the motivation behind the closed session. It looks, for all the world, like it's been done for the coaching staff to hide, that's my take.

I don't live that far, so don't really care, but what if someone had left from Mandurah to come up and have a look?

That's all nice and paochial and all, but a shirts a shirt, doesn't symbolise much to me whilst I am sweating and grunting to try and get rid of weight. It was the cheapest "running/gym gear" you could get in the sports store.

Totally agree.

I don't believe that one session can cure all, I am not clueless in that regard by any means. I am happy that they seem to be aware of the poor form issues that they are facing.

Granted it is not good to give such short notice about the cancellation, but I believe there are bigger issues to address

One can only assume though that the session was closed so that they could put the boys through a bit more of a serious session, in a bid to show that saturdays performance wasn't acceptable. Now if that is the case then I really don't see the problem with the session being closed. Sure it was at the last minute, but if they decided they wanted to close the session, wouldn't you rather they did it than keep it open and a bit more light-hearted for the fans?
