I remember being really excited when Tony Shaw took on the coaching roll at the pies. I also remember being less excited after every game.

I was wondering if he would have been any better if he had gone to another club and served an apprenticeship or was he always going to be a dud - what are your thoughts?

I am of the opinion the wider range of experince you get the more tricks you can have up your sleeve and the more prepared you are for coaching. For example someone who plays at one club does short apprenticships at a couple clubs then coaches has an edge over someone who plays does the apprenticship and coaches same club. On that note if there were any truth to the speculation that voss is going to do his apprenticship at brisbane then coach them that it wouldn be the best idea

In hind sight i think it would of been good for Tony Shaw to have taken the assistants job at Calton but in saying that i didnt think he was as bad as peolpe say. He inherited a very ordinary list from Leigh Matthews and combined with our drafting disasters he was on a hiding to nothing.
