I'm not at all worried really. For me, the longer we hear nothing, the better.

Why? Because we want to show some respect to our current interim coach.

It would be a fairly low act on the clubs behalf to come out 4 weeks into Crockers chance and say that we've appointed Buckley. The media would have a field day with it too, suggesting that Crocker never had a chance, and therefore it was unfair to ask him to be the interim coach, etc.

If Nathan didn't want the North job, I think we'd know something by now.

I'm confident that the deal has been done, and they're just waiting for the right time to announce it.

I love Crocks but his circumstances shouldn't come into it at all. If we have decided that someone else is our preferred candidate and we then are able to sign him, bad luck for Crocks. The fact that he was appointed interim coach and has had 4+ games to strut his stuff actually gives him an advantage over Buckley and the other candidates.

I have real issues with the way we have gone after Buckley. We have targeted him without any review of other potential candidates and in the process greatly inflating his worth. If we get him, it could cost $200,000 - $300,000 more than we should have payed him, if we had gone through the full process. Unlike other clubs, we can't waste this kind of money gambling on a unproven coach.

For all the good Brayshaw and Arocca have done over the last 18 months, there legacy could be destroyed and the club go the way of University or South Melbourne if it fails.

Turn it up.

If Buckley accepts the VFL role at Collingwood ahead of the senior role with us, well, that isn't exactly going to look good on us.

Absolutely no reflection on us & totally about his sense of his coaching ability.

There are 16 positions available for someone who wants to coach in the AFL.

Only 10 in Victoria.

You take your opportunity when it presents or risk missing out completely.

Put it this way - we will have a senior coach who we have chosen to lead us in 2010, Buckley may have shyte all.

So you have no concerns that we may end up paying too much on a unproven coach?

A completely bogus premise, for a start. Who says we'll be paying "too much"? How much is "too much"? Which "proven" coaches are in the running for the job, and how much would you pay them?

I'm pretty sure that JB said the other night on MMM that their Board meetings are always scheduled for the last Wednesday of each month. The Age is the only place where I have read that they were supposed to be having a meeting this week.

As Buckley said, when you don't come out and say something then the media is quite happy to just make something up.

Not really, he will just have to live with the disappointment when someone else takes us to premiership success.

I think it would look much worse on Buckley than North - similar to how Voss looked a goose when he everyone wanted him and he pulled out (which he has redeemed himself for this year with Brisbane)

Nah, Voss is still a goose.

Buckley will make the right decision for himself. I hope it's North, but either way all that will matter is the job the coach we get does next year and for the next few years - how we look to anyone now will be irrelevant, we can't give a stuff about that.

I don't think it's bogus at all, and I'm not saying we WILL pay him too much, I'm saying we COULD be paying too much because Brayshaw and Arocca are chasing Buckley and not even looking at anyone else, which means Buckley is holding all the aces. He can name his price and if we don't match it we don't get him.
If we went through the full process of evaluating all the potential applicants, not only do we increase our chances of find a better coach than Buckley, but if we do decide on Buckley then it will be on our terms and at our price.

It's bad business practises in my opinion and it COULD land us in deep trouble.

Brayshaw has continuously stated that money won't be an issue with Buckley.
