There's no reason why they shouldn't be cleaner.
Other than being dives frequented by dudes with zero personal hygiene and riddled with half a dozen STDs and fluid borne diseases, no.

Edit. I should add that the owners of these establishments think that an inch of piss and vomit on a floor with clumped toilet paper left out all night is part of the charm, which it is, but yeah, they could be cleaner than my washed dick nestled in its safe undies house.

I wasn't referring to taps and doorhandles. I meant " no reason why IT shouldn't be cleaner"

Was at the Freo / South Freo training ground today, having a look. Can understand that there is no real room for expansion in regards to facilities at the place...

There you go Mr Crow! you can make a reasonable observation and you are right, Freo would struggle to be developed in a meaningful way and the two options were not even close.

As Kerry Packer once said, you only get one Alan Bond (when Bondy paid way overs for channel 9 and subsequently sold it back to Packer at a fraction of the price). Fremantle's Bondy is Cockburn who are kicking in 65 Million to have us there - yeah thats right 65 Million!

I don't think that's strictly true. CCC will be building a sports campus (aquatic centre, grass fields, indoor sports hall) on the site regardless, even if we tear up the agreement and go back to Freo.

That's probably because you don't know what you're looking at.

do some research on the Stan Rielly Centre (that's the 6000 square metres between the existing club house and south terrace).

It's Absolute nonsense that there's not enough room at Fremantle oval.

So you sign a 50 year lease on a property while giving the finger to the landlord of the property you still have a 40 year lease on? Have I got this right?

very simplistic - without knowing the full exact details of the lease you can't quite make that conclusion - but we understand your emotion and thus grasping at anything to validate that hurt. I think the overall lease is tied to the WAFC, (and obviously including FreoFC and SFFC). There would have been much discussion and consultation with WAFC over future use and plans for WAFL etc. The WAFC would also have been involved with the Freo decision to relocate to a large extent from the outset.

For sure, but Freo gets all their facilities and two ovals for their 10 million (which is a steal). Also worth noting that the ever generous (to Freo) AFL are contributing a massive 1 Milllion;) in a 110 million project!

Neither surprised or amazed - but just because you have a right to state your opinion doesn't diminish other's rights to oppose that opinion and present a different point of view, or pull you up if you're being a little OTT :p

It's difficult to judge how people feel based on external 'first reactions' anyway - and let's be honest, it is a reaction not a balanced opinion. Much better to wait until the papers have stopped interviewing DL and Chris Lewis for their opinions, and people have digested what the club is trying to achieve objectively. The supporter base that the Fremantle Board need to cater for are the 90% of families who follow the team but don't necessarily know all the players names, stats, or attend the AGM, not people like us who are a vocal minority.

I'm just of the view that underlying how things have taken place (which I feel have been a necessary evil anyway) the Fremantle board has always been objective and clear about their goals for what they want from the club, and have done whatever is necessary to give the team the best chance for Success.

Your response is the metaphorical equivalent of a slap in the face! In a face to face discussion, in most places other than the rarified a,too sphere of the legal profession, you'd be on your arse after the first sarcastic condescending response!

I didn't make a connection either, and I'm still not sure.

Reggie wrote a bit better than PSH. . . but then PSH might be his drinking account, or the move might have finally snapped his brain.

Ha! And I thought Shane Richmond was a twat!

Are you related to feds2000?

See that's the thing, I think that I've been pretty reasonable in providing measured, considered responses, so I'm a little lost by this comment. I have no problem with opposition to my ideas. If you provide logical, well-constructed arguements against my beliefs you may be able to change my mind. Of course, you haven't done that and wont do that, which means that when I can be bothered, I'll spend a couple of seconds doing research to refute your claims and exaggerations.

If you have some evidence that I have been lied to be the Steves, treated with contempt or that they have made decisions that will result in the club going backwards, provide some context and perhaps solutions. Until you are prepared to do that, realise that because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean that a third of the people (or any other made up number) support your view. The only decision that I'm unhappy with is that the board consulted the members about the song (we ended up with the worst option IMO), we the 'voting' public can't be trusted to make the right decisions, obviously.

Well said.

I'd probably take you more seriously if you were on your main account - but do tell how the response was sarcastic?

Some of the responses from folks in this thread are completely emotive and lacking rationality. For years we have bemoaned being the laughing stock of the competition. Now finally we have an administration that is ensuring no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of success and there are those that bemoan this approach.

I find the criticism of the Steve's to be particularly interesting. Perhaps those that love to have a go think that running a multi million dollar business in a multi billion dollar industry is somewhat of a doddle, something anybody could do!? Perhaps they think that Steve Harris should pick up the phone and ring every member every time a decision is to be made. One wonders then what the point of a Board of Directors existing is?

I think the board has done a brilliant job here. They have considered both options in a logical, methodical manner with view not only for what the club needs now, but also what will be required within the next half century. I for one am very thankful that the board had the fortitude to ignore sentimentality and emotion and in good faith make the best decision for the club's future.

On balance I am pleased with this decision and can't wait to see our new facilities in a few years.

Go Freo.
