A "puff" of Demons
So this is what a decade of tanking gives you. Just goes to show that early draft pick choices are subjective. Give me the Corey Enright's #47 Dane Swan#52 Sam Mitchell#36 of the world anyday. Seems to me that the number one draft pick is a title that goes to Private School school yard heroes. Melbourne has a shit load of these poonces, and now they are paying the price

still going with a flange of baboons.

there is some serious loose lips down at Melgawn.

A shambles of shemales.

A shitshow of shemales.

A trull of demons.

A meltdown of Melbournians

Seeing they had a fond connection with the Irish, an alliteration would be appropriate,

a damp and dole drift of Demons,

or,

a desolate and displeasing disease of Demons.

The proper collective noun for a group of demons would perhaps be a legion or a bombast:

However while they might aspire to Beelzebub, Lucifer or Azazel status, we all know that the MFC go no higher in the hierarchy of deviltry than the seed-sucking shemons, the succubi.

MFC: An opulence of succubi.

Melbourne is itself a collective of players, the plural applies.

One collective.

Melbourne is shit. Melbourne and Footscray are shit.

You are confused with, "The Demons are shit" which is of course correct.

Furthermore you are being unconvincingly adversarial given your own application, bolded, above. You appear to have written that which you say is incorrect.

While it is possible to cite sources indicating either singular or plural is correct, this is a matter subject to usage. For example:

"Footscray is shit" is correct every day of the week.
"Footscray are shit" is only correct when used in concert with a context alluding to individuals on the team. One such correct usage would be, "Footscray are shit - Wallis and Libba have shown appetite for contested footy, but Jarrad Grant is as soft as butter."

Fact.
