Truth hurts. He is spot on! We literally have nobody coming through to replace Pendles, Howe, Elliott, Mihocek, Sidebottom, Crisp, Cox, Mitchell and WHE. All of whom you’d expect to retire within two years……3 max. This isn’t mentioning those who are approaching 30 in DC, Moore, JDG, Bruz, McStay, Membrey. Needed to focus on brining in quality youth, except we have neglected the long-term future of the club and now we will be suffering for a decade.

Yes but sadly we didn’t accept the fall. We should’ve taken it on the chin, been grateful for our flag and done our time to restock and get quality youth onto the list. That’s just my take on it. Now we must be ruthless and let Maynard go as a FA, get a pick straight after north’s first, maybe look at trading Bobby for 2 firsts. We can’t be waiting til Tassie come in to be a bottom 4 side. We won’t get anything.

I don’t think a HBF was what we needed. Yes he’s a gun, but we need KPD, Mids and KPF. We had running half backs, the same as we had handy forward pockets the year before. You don’t go selling the farm for the cherries on top……you sell the farm for game changers. That’s just my view.

Except for the senior players we've brought in ... Over the last 2 trade periods we've supposedly stuffed up our future by trading out 2 speculative first round draft picks - whereas we've brought in 3 senior players - with 6+ years ahead of of them and another one who should hopefully have a couple of years left, as well as some kids with a chance to kick on.
Those 9 guys you've listed won't all go at once - and we've already brought in 3 senior players as part of replacing them - you'd expect a few of our kids to kick on and we'll add some more senior players over the next few years.

So you want us to get rid of two of our better players (heart & soul player & Norm Smith medalist & who has X factor) to bring in a couple of kids which could take years to develop, if, they even do develop??

Only some of them will pan out but we definitely have more than "nobody" coming through.

Apart from Allan, Harrison and Perryman, how many of those have played senior footy? You’re simply comparing position types and none of us have any idea whether they’ll make it or not. Their form in the vfl and our vfl performances suggest they are a long way off. Time will tell, but hanging our hats on these guys is a long shot.
This solves it, put Cornes back in his box and close the lid.
Im very optimistic about Allan, Harrison and West but you’re double-counting a bit - Allan Schultz and Perryman are already in the team. And the gap in class and talent between your named outgoing and replacement players is huge.
Hopefully we can somehow jag one more flag before going over the cliff.

There seem to be some supporters in here that are absolutely furious that we won the flag in 2023 instead of gutting the list so that we could be younger.
There is always some cross over during a transition of players.
Perryman is in the team but Mitchell isn't. We can only fit so many in the team. If they both play in the midfield then someone like Pendlebury, Sidebottom or Crisp is either out or doing half back or wing stuff. I see Perryman as the natural Mitchell replacement.
Sure Allan was in the team last week and I would love to see it continue, but I see him taking a lot of Pendleburys minutes in the middle soon so I see him as a replacement. Allan needs to play well otherwise DeGoey or Mitchell will push him out soon. But long term I see Allan as at least serviceable.
Agree that the gap in talent will probably be huge but the 30+ oldie squad ain't what they use to be and who knows if the young players will improve to bridge that talent, be average or burn and crash. It is to early to say yeah or neah on their careers. But who knows what trades bring to the table.
Probably the best was of doing it would be a future best team with players under 30. Let me try:
FB: Maynard, McInnes, IQ
HB Houston, Moore, J Daicos
C Lipinski, N Daicos, McGuane
Foll: Cameron, DeGoey, Perryman
HF: Schultz, McStay, Hill
FF: McCreery, West, Harrison
Inter: Allan, Condon, Hayes, Jiath sub: Demattia
Extras: Smit, Cochran, Some extra trades or draft picks.
There are holes with unknown talent that has a high chance to fail like West, Condon, Hayes, Jiath, Demattia and even McGuane but I few of that lot will be at least average players. Usually 2 out of 6 players have reasonable careers. But we are also good at bringing in serviceable trade players as well. So I feel we can fill the missing holes with 4-6 trade and new draft targets over the next 3 years.
I see the cliff and its a tough ask to avoid it but one more cup would be nice.
