Whomever are in the last Grand Final together is always the greatest rivalry.

Rivalries will come and go, but really only 3 rivalries will never die, although the GWS/Sydney, Brisbane/GC has great potential.

It's pretty much only a BF/Internet rivarly imv.
A St. Kilda supporter in real life depises Collingwood more than any other club. A Collingwood supporter would consider Carlton (when they were good) or Essendon (ditto) their greatest rivals.

Rivalries that exist because both teams are good and competiting in big games aren't really rivalries.
The Eagles & Swans had a rivalry that means little now because the player turnover and distance between the teams in recent results.
The real rivalries are teams that carry the grudge irrespective of players and league position.
I think in a few years St.Kilda & Collingwood will be indifferent. It's easy to think there is a rivalry coming off a drawn GF.

Thats probally the only thing Pies and Saints will agree on
This is why i hate the Saints
They have killed us in a couple of the final series before last year
The whole Luke Ball saga and the way lyon and Roo went about it

Not wanting to start any arguments but it’s only really Saints supporters that think there’s a rivalry between Collingwood and St Kilda. I doubt there are any Collingwood supporters who thinks about the Saints in the same way as they think about Carlton or Essendon or even Geelong. Maybe some of the old timers who remember 1966 or the Greening incident but the rest of us don’t. All I can remember about the Saints is that when I was a kid and we played them it was a guaranteed percentage boost.
St Kilda supporters on the other hand have what looks like a deep hatred of Collingwood. It’s not just on BF either. Last year just before finals I caught up with a couple of friends who are St Kilda supporters for the first time in years, and all they could talk to me about was how much they hated Collingwood and wanted them to lose and the dreaded Collywobbles. They couldn't even talk about how well there own team was doing, just how much the hated Collingwood.

It's far from the "new greatest rivalry".
Fierce rivalries such as Carlton/Collingwood, Essendon/Collingwood etc are the greatest as they have survived the test of time.
St Kilda vs Collingwood has only really gathered momentum because of the whole Luke Ball saga.

I don't have any particularly intense feelings towards the saints, they are probably the team I hate the least.

Do Collingwood fans really hate St Kilda???..
i wouldn't think many of them would list St Kilda as their least favourite club

You must admitt though it gave you a warm feeling inside seeing Carlton fans so despondent at 1/2 time of the return game in 10' realizing how much Collingwood were owning them.
If the Saints/Pies play off in the 11' GF, it might take on Hawthorn/Essendon porportions.

The best rivalry atm in terms of games would be Geelong v St Kilda
They have had some rippers over the last 3 years,
not too sure on how the fanbases feel about each other though

Whoever said it was more an BF rivalry is dead on.
It goes both ways and far out is it annoying. So many threads have been derailed by bitching between both supporters.

I don't consider St.Kilda a rival, but I despise them a great deal, but in a different way to how I despise Carlton or Essendon.
I despise Essendon and Carlton as rivals, I despise St.Kilda like I despise stepping in dog **** on my morning walk.

Agree to a point but wooden spoon after wooden spoon hasn't dulled their arrogant swagger & their supporter base still thinks they are relevant. Conversely, for a club that has achieved little, St. Kilda's supporter base is way too arrogant.
It was more fun crushing Geelong this year than St. Kilda.
