Autopsy Collingwood: Where to from here?

Happy to revisit this at the mid season bye.

My tip is Cox will not have step foot on an AFL venue. His spot should have been used in the draft, considering the lack of quality young players on the list.
Collingwood should have delisted a contracted Cox... in favour of a draft-age ruck who will certainly not be good enough to play in 2025?

Yep. That's the advice.

Because that will reduce the average age of our 'best 22' (which I'm surprised includes Cox, given the comments that have been made about him) to closer to 29 than 30.

What was the overriding emotion you felt when you wrote out that team?

Fear or jealousy?

And at what stage did you come to the realisation 'Shite, this is actually an extremely strong team'?
That's an AWESOME team, and some of those will be pushed out by younger players, how exciting is this??!!!

Why isn't the ladder decided every year by youngest list to oldest?

Great analysis.

The inconvenient truth for supporters of other clubs who want to see the back of us, we're in good shape for the short to medium term.

I expect we'll contend for 3 of the next 5 flags, allowing for a down year (as we saw in 2024, and a near miss).
Can't see them losing a game in 2025 . If they do, it won't be because of heart, desire, age or skill. The only excuse can now be poor umpire decisions, or fixturing

Delusional.

I would have thought that EVERY club would have the equal amount of 1st round draft picks within the last 25 years ( that is until clubs decide to trade away that selection ), apart from the Giants and Suns who had the plethora of 1st round selections for inception purposes
You guys and Melbourne were also given priority picks on top of what you already had..

Those dancing on the Collingwood grave could be made to look very stupid.

Clearly they have an old team. But on paper it definitely looks like one of the stronger teams.

And I don't think the cliff is obviously coming. Even if they just add a couple of role players over time they should be a strong team for a few years yet.
