Mod. Notice Competitions: READ BEFORE POSTING A COMPETITION

Would it be possible to get some sort of calender running of what competition ran when and what competitions will run in the future, including periods of design. Because I have an idea that is more full on, with a new format and includes challenges not seen before on the FJGD board, but I know it probably wont get the support it needs as we have the IFA?, FIRA, Can-Am, and AAL running at the moment.

NAFL runs October to February
FIRA runs March to August or so
Looks like AAL is going to run May to September or so
Can-Am hasn't released any dates yet but you'd assume it would be a similar starting time to the AAL.

There will be a Champions League that starts when the NAFL is complete, probably.

If it's a good idea, it will get support. People were worried that having so many league style competitions might burn everyone out, but ultimately not everyone has to enter every competition and if some comps only have 1 division, that's fine.

What did you have in mind akkaps?

Thanks, I'll wait until April / May to post it.

I was looking to base a competiton around a TV show format, most probably MasterChef.

Dates will be determined as soon as all places are filled, so the sooner that happens the sooner the competition will start.

Yeah, no more league comps, pls & ty.
I agree with this, it takes a few days, week tops, to design the jumpers and logo. After that, the competition led on forever, and we don't get to design anything during the competition.

We need something that is continuos, and needs and steady flow of designing, while leading up to an eventual winner.

This is why it's not a bad thing to have several league comps running throughout the year.

I think most would agree they are the most interesting comps to be a part of and most satisfying to do well in. The NAFL really is the flagship competition for this board. But I designed my uniforms for it in September or something, and it only finished a month ago.

Having a few league style comps, spaced out means you can be designing regularly.

I think the current problem with the league competitions is that a bunch popped up at the same time. I'm having designer's block at the moment, and the thought that I've got to come up with three competitive jumper sets in the space of about a month isn't helping.

We have no league comp 'running' at the moment, it needs to be more structured. So in September, we design out jumpers, and while the NAFL is going through its rounds, we start designing for the next competiton. Otherwise, it'll feel like too much of a gap and we start having competitions on top of each other like how it is now.

I think that was basically a result of the backlash against the IFA. I reckon you'll find next year they'll end up being a bit better spread out.

Again, 3 months ago it was only the NAFL and IFA that ran at all.

Then lots of people didn't like what was going on with the IFA and pulled out.

I and a few others started our own competitions.

I think for next year, we'll try to spread them out a bit better. They are only so bunched together at the moment because of the IFA backlash.

That said, FIRA kits are due in 4 days (I still need a lot of them), AAL kits aren't due until may, and Can-Am will be somewhere in between. If you haven't done your FIRA kit, do that first as it's due, then do the others as they are due.

Just on the IFA, Haro seems pretty certain that it's going ahead, but has anyone actually submitted an entry to him?

Also, when will we see the schedule for the FIRA, scorco?

Schedule will be up for each league either when every entry is received or just prior to round 1, as i'll have to rejig things if I haven't received a few entries.

I've submitted all my designs except my AAL, which I have just joined.

I'm surprised more people haven't sent in thier design Scorch.

Lots of others have talked about the fact that they are doing their design, so I expect to get a few in over the next few days. I've just tagged a bunch of people in the FIRA thread.

I'm curious. Could you elaborate on your comp please?

I pulled out, so I don't know. But I have a feeling that the majority of people still in the IFA are some of the newer people to the board

i'm out of it.
i'm pretty sure it's mostly people who don't frequent the board, and only enter the main competitions.

Just imagine if MasterChef was for designing instead of cooking. With some edits in the format so it runs smoother.

I sent my entry in before I left, and I am surprised it hasn't started yet.

So a bit like the Designathon but without the prize?
Completely off.

This is what I am looking at, if there is some interest now, I'll post the rest of it as a bid for a competition. The only problem is that we have too many things going on at the moment.

WEEK 2:
Sunday - Wednesday:

People will be split into groups of 3-6 (depending on numbers), and will have to work together in fulfilling the brief.
In the brief, they will be required to create an identity and design three jumpers and a logo.

Thursday:
Group Challenge Poll

Friday - Saturday:
Elimination Challenge
Another Elimination Challenge, this being for the losing group, the loser of this challnge will be eilminated from competition

Sunday:
Elimination Challenge Poll

The only issue I foresee with that is getting people to commit that much time over a short period.
That's one of the problems I see, and that's why I asked about what is currently on the forecast, design wise. I do have the option of spreading it out further, but it would mean that we could end up completely forgetting about it. The main thing I wanted to bring into this was group challenges, I may have to find another way to do this.
