What has the outbreak been in regional centre's where the cost of living is actually lower also?

There's alot of regional grounds that could be used as hubs and bus transport. Mildura, Berri etc etc

Janus you said you can't trust the US recovery numbers because not all states report them adequately.

The Germans estimate them.

Probably countries/jurisdictions that get large numbers and don't have resources to adequately track them like Oz and NZ where the numbers are low.

In Germany The Robert Koch Institute is the equivalent of John Hopkins Uni keeping the German stats
9th May stats - English version Page 4

Clinical aspects
Information on symptoms is available for 139,070 (83%) of the notified cases. Common symptoms are cough (49%), fever (41%) and rhinorrhoea (21%). Pneumonia was reported in 3,969 cases (2.9%). Hospitalisation was reported for 24,501 (18%) of 138,819 COVID-19 cases with information on hospitalisation status. Since calendar week 17, cases are reported to the RKI as a distinct COVID-19 surveillance category, similar to other reported infectious diseases. Since then, loss of smell and taste can also be entered as symptoms. At least one of these two symptoms were reported in 911 of 6,146 cases (15%) recorded in the COVID-19 category.

Approximately 143,300 people have recovered from their COVID-19 infection. Since the exact date of recovery is unknown in most cases, an algorithm was developed to estimate the number of recovered cases.

Of the 7,369 COVID-19-related deaths reported in Germany 4,101 (56%) are men and 3,262 (44%) are women (gender was unknown in five cases) (see Table 2). The median age was 82 years. Of all deaths, 6,370 (86%) were in people age 70 years or older, but only 19% of all cases were in this age group. COVID-19 outbreaks continue to be reported in nursing homes and hospitals. In some of these outbreaks, the number of deaths is relatively high.

In worldometers countries with N/A in recovered column - UK and Netherlands. Norway only showing 32 cases of 8,000+ Singapore 2,300 out of 23,000 etc

Posted this from a tweet from info released by NSW Health on 21st April at this post

Interesting breakdown of NSW's first 2,000 cases.

1/2 took 16 days to recover,
3/4 took 3 weeks
95% took 6 weeks.
In first 2000 cases there were 7 deaths and the 2,000th case was on 31st March.

This morning NSW reported 1,755 people had recovered. Last time they reported was 8th April 1,356, so about 30 recoveries a day.

Speaking with The Washington Post, the unnamed sources cited a heated Wednesday discussion between Birx and CDC Director Robert Redfield over this very matter.

“Birx and others were frustrated with the CDC’s antiquated system for tracking virus data, which they worried was inflating some statistics — such as mortality rate and case count — by as much as 25 percent, according to four people present for the discussion or later briefed on it,”

Daniel Andrews congratulating Victorians on 'flattening the curve'. Pretty hard to see that Daniel when Victoria has had 15 new cases before 8.00 a.m. today and 137 new cases in the past 11 days. There is no sign that Victoria is containing the current infection rate in that State.

Out of 192 cases in Australia over the past 11 days 137 or over 70% have occurred in Victoria.

Well you've been wrong about everything else so far so why not go big on this prediction. An extension of this logic is Australia can now expect 60k of corona deaths by years end based on similar re-opening schemes.
The problem with America is they have all those constitutional rights protestors with semi automatic weapons who will do as they please ins spite of their fellow citizens, plus those who have swallowed the conspiracy theories hook line and sinker and those who think God will protect them no matter what they do...
not to mention the more important point that their amount of testing and contact tracing is sub par compared to here.

Not sure if the ABC have it right or not but the overnight positive total for Victoria has risen to 17 and only 8 of those are related to the Cedar Meat Works. There is a fair bit of community transmitted virus floating around in Melbourne. That is 160 +ves in two weeks. If this keeps up there is no way the AFL should be playing in Melbourne.

There have also been 6 positives in Queensland today.

The NRL’s reported request for unvaccinated players to be cleared to play in Queensland this season has been shut down, effectively wiping out Titans pair Bryce Cartwright and Brian Kelly for the season.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young on Tuesday said the government will only grant flu-shot exemptions to NRL players on medical grounds.
She stated personal beliefs and ethical concerns are not covered in the list of exemptions.

Community Transmission is defined differently for spread of diseases compared to normal use of the word community.

You may have heard the term "community transmission" being used in coronavirus news stories and updates from authorities.

It is used to describe the situation where a person is infected by the virus but they have not been overseas recently or been in recent contact with other confirmed cases. The term basically means authorities are unable to trace the source of the infection.

1 person gets the virus from an unknown source and works at Cedar Meats which ends up having 120 cases then that goes in the book as only 1 community transmission case.

That's why Vic only has 161 cases out of total cases of 1,511.

Andrews wont cancel the AFL season just like Gladys and Anastacia wont cancel the NRL season and their states have 364 and 44 community transmission cases respectively.

WA and SA premiers and CMO's dont have as much faith in their health system as the 3 bigger states.

Excess deaths are a good way of estimating the exent of under-reporting of COVID-19 deaths. True for New York but especially true for India, Brazil, Russia, countries in Africa etc, where you know reporting will be crappy.

Responsible?
If people don't want to inject a foreign substance into their body they have every right not to. ( I don't agree with it but hey they do them)

But I ain't going to bully shame or back them into a corner to follow suit.

Andrews won't cancel AFL season. Everything that's wrong with the competition in that sentence. With Victoria the epicentre of Australia's infections it should be a no brainer for Gil to say teams will play in WA and SA (and even NT games since they are clean). Instead we're beholden to the infected state.
