a lot of people will be on mandated leave by companies.
If you show you been sick you can change Annual Leave to Sick Leave.
I know a few people who swapped it over before COVID
Agree and understand all of that but the concept of simply "staying home" does not prove to an employer - sickness as such

Yeah I wrote a while ago when discussing the models around 25k a day in NSW and whether we had the testing capacity that 90k in the UK was the same as 10k in Vic

At the time that was UKs peak, they've hit 180k in a day since and we did 14k today in Vic

Only reason NSW hasn't had 25k is lower testing numbers so capacity could be an issue after all
Not sure on how it is viewed now but at the start the WHO suggested that 5% positive rate was a accurate measure but a higher positive rate usually indicated a much wider spread than was being tested.

if you have a COVID positive I think you can argue to swap to Sick Leave.

I cannot see going back end of Jan as they wanted now.
Happy working from home :)

So the guardian says COVID positive nurses working as shortages.
I gather Murdoch press be saying it all ok and not true
Truth probably in between

I know click bait news although pretty sad someone catch up with vulnerable people while they know they have COVID https://www.news.com.au/world/coron...s/news-story/fb65cb968838a0f299a67aa864c68fc3

You could choose to not guess (gather). Ohio - now thats relevant.

The absentee worker numbers in one Melbourne CBD hospital today are an alltime high across all sectors setting a new high, thats relevant.

New variant being reported out of France

The reality of a new variant is that in order for it to replace omicron as the dominant strain in circulation is that it needs to be more transmissible and less symptomatic for it to be able to distribute itself faster and more effectively than omicron. They are both currently elbowing for space and one team has significantly more foot in the door.

If a new variant is more dangerous, making people more symptomatic they are more likely to be excluded from society, either by self imposed isolation, death or hospitalisation - all of which end the transmission of the virus from them (or near enough), meanwhile the variant that spreads easily and is able to do so for longer without the person or those around noticing they are sick will take over.

It isn't a game of pandemic, the whole world doesn't mutate into a suddenly deadly strain and all cases change to that. I am not suggesting you think that but it needs to be said before I say this. Omicron being so transmissible means the pandemic is over, any variants coming out now need to be so easy to spread and so non-symptomatic to survive at a better rate than omicron that humans will no longer care about it, if they notice infection at all.

Variants that are more deadly or less transmissible will not compete and will not last.

Where my wife works they are really short of staff.
Although before COVID they had times where they were really short of staff.
at 14k a day and growing I say be a few taken out by COVID soon if not now

I know lots of people in health.. Heard stories first hand how bad it is with COVID.
Not just dealing with COVID patients.. All the extra layers you need to do just for day to day now.
Taking its toll on health workers..

Scotty doing his best for those who elected him.
First he gives millions to Harvey Norman that he does not need to give back
Now will not undercut him making millions from selling RAT kits.
Always look after those in need :)

What a sh*t position to be in given his track record

Yeah I wasn't really saying it out of anything relevant to his character but more from the point of if he's right and COVID fizzles away this year it would be very welcome

Hard to prove a covid positive if you don't get tested - as a previous poster eluded to doing rather than queuing for a test

I assume a RAT will not count so if you really sick
Make sure you take PT or drive to 20 testing centres camp out at maybe 3am.
after you been to 30 supermarkets, chemists and do not forget your mates Scotty Harvey Norman to get your RAT test.

not sure anyone can see a problem with that.

Yeah i know i was saying how dire is it that we need to hope he's right for once

I'm thinking Moderna too for my third. Just to change things up, shits and gigs etc.
Had 2 x AZ - chills with the first, nothing with the second; Moderna booster - sore arm for a couple of days.
