I reckon they’ll put some sort of submission to the government to get them through.

- 18 clubs based in Vic because it has the facilities

- play games at the G, Etihad, whenever else can work. Maybe Princes Park, Moorabbin etc.

- isolated training / admin base for each club (there’s decent VFL club facilities for interstate clubs)

- isolated accomodation and transport for players and essential staff with screening for visitors.

If the players are up for it they’ll give it a go.

Same goes for lots of other workplaces that are shutting down........

My business has to shut its doors, I have to send employees home without pay. I may go bankrupt. How does that effect my desire to watch footy? I need footy right now to forget for a while.

Well the AFL continuously tell us about how they are an industry leader when it comes to being on the front foot about social issues, til it doesn’t suit them...

So being a good role model is more important than sustaining the livelihoods of 1000s of people?

That's a massive price to pay out of principal.

Ugh. You're exhausting dude. I really dont need to break down for you what underlying conditions means. You're a big boy.
Who understands that your use of the term is a hollow phrase. I don't look forward to seeing all the sick people without "associated conditions" (comorbidities is the term you're looking for), but it will happen.

If the players were all prepared to play under these conditions I'd support it. With the country slowly going into lockdown they may as well be locked down here assuming they want to play footy

A few weeks ago I was one of those thinking it was media hype however I was totally wrong and feel like Ann idiot for thinking that. We need to get serious as people can’t use their own common sense to stay home as indicated by the 1000’s of idiots on Bondi beach. Stay home and do your bit. I love footy as much as anyone however it’s time to shut it down, now.

What about it being essential to the employment of probably thousands
What makes them so special compared to other industries that are getting hit even harder? Qantas recently just what, axed 5k workers recently? Get in the queue.

It is irresponsible to have these players and staff jetting around the country during a pandemic when states are going into lockdown. It is inevitable that there'll be mass restrictions. At the end of the day, AFL is not essential. Know what is? Medical workers, the people who transport food and medicine, etc.

Taking super early is a terrible idea
It is only 10k and the market has probably taken double that away in share losses in losses the last 2 weeks anyway.

Hands up if you think Morrison is all there in this crisis.
Will work with sporting bodies to ignore non-essential travel.
Amazing leader.

Yeah let's get you straight into the PM role, because you obviously already have all the facts at hand and know what you're doing. Good on ya champ.

Can't see that happening. Would look a bit ridiculous if everything else is shut down except the AFL.

They did but we have the benefit of seeing how the rest of Europe and the states have gone with being slow to react, and it’s not good.
Yes but the AFL still playing isn't a sign of being slow to react. It's a sign that healthy individuals are allowed to continue working.

It's moot anyway, the correct decision has been made.

Federal Govt are a shitshow, if the bushfire response warranted a 2 out of 10 rating I'd give them a 4 or 5 for this.
Slow to respond, mixed messaging, lack of a concise hygiene campaign and very lax protocols for people entering/returning from overseas (no thermal screening, cruise ship debacles etc). It's almost funny that some people think we're magically insulated from this virus. We're not- it's here and spreading rapidly.

Completely agree the mixed messages are just getting laughable.

I think the government have only contributed to the "Panic" in the community with "herd immunization"

I know even at state level security tiers were going up daily last weekend.

We won't close the airports to Europe, U.S now we will shutdown everything within a few days.

This virus is consistent unless extraordinary actions are taken early. Now regardless of the virus stats, fatality rate which I won't truck back over because they have been done at nauseam.

This country is already basically in recession it's been only "two weeks" since it began really hitting Australians hard.

Those implications alone in consideration to people's employment and the healthcare system it's enough right now.

We have months to go even if we could incorporate preventative measures right this very moment with vaccine & medicine it would still be a long haul getting it under control.

I can't stress enough this is going to take the world long time to recover from when we get it under control.

And I'm just hoping more than anything that we don't have a huge explosion. Because what we are doing now failed overseas because it was to late.
