Yay the IPL is underway for another year - 1 down, 73 to go. The final is on May 25 🥴.

Time for Cricket Australia to upgrade their contracts so that Contracted Players have to give precedence to Australian Cricket. Travis Head playing in the IPL in preference to the Shield Final is a travesty and should not be allowed.

Hopefully SA will prevail but if they don't Travis, PAFC Ambassador or not, should cop some stick. If it wasn't for Shield Cricket Trav would not have an international reputation to trade on.

Go Redbacks.

Qld 0/15 after 10 overs.

FMD - did they water the pitch last night.

I was going to write why the hell did we send them in. Its flat and will be hot. Ryan Harris knows more than me.

Really have to question what is going on with SA sport, feels like less and less Lads drafted these days, this whole bowling line up is from interstate, 36’ers haven’t had a good play off run for years, Adelaide United has floundered for years…

Is SASI still a thing? What happened to our young sporting ‘ability’?

Wow only just catching up with the score, we'd have to bat like the Birdwood 3rds to lose this now.
Amazing what happens when there is a voice or 4 from people who didn’t grow up in the leafy Eastern Suburbs. Harris, Cosgrove and Watt all with great ties to Northern Districts during ‘The Jets’ reasonable era ‘03-08ish.

McInerney, Lehmann and Carey are the only locals in the XI

The real Women's Sport of Netball has come good again, which SA was traditionally strong. Outside the West Indian imports I think only 1 of them is not from SA.

I'm not exactly sure how the points system works (something about runs v wickets inside 100 overs), but I reckon if SA can still be in at the 36 over mark and have more than 95 runs, I think we get a bonus point? Ideally we bat for 100+overs and have a shit ton of runs.

We certainly don't need to declare - just bat and bat and bat for 200 overs, which would still leave another 200 to bowl them out.

This is how the bonus points system works: the batting side earns 0.01 points for every run scored above 200 in the first 100 overs of the first innings and the bowling side earns 0.1 points for every wicket taken in the same period.

So we have the full 1.0 points for bowling and Queensland scored none for batting. If we can get to 200 we have them covered in case of a draw (unlikely).

See Ford's post.

Dismissing Queensland in less than 100 overs got SA full bonus points for bowling. Failing to score over 200 meant Queensland got no bonus points for batting.

Now SA just needs to make sure they score enough to gain some batting bonus points, or bat long enough to stop Queensland from getting the full points for bowling.
