Should there be a ban of alcohol & drug companies being main sponsors in sport?
Personally, I think so. Although it can get a tad hazy when it comes to drugs. Do we cancel the Swisse ads with Hawthorn in it? What about Panadol, Nurofen, Claratyne etc.

Alcohol and gambling though, they should definitely get rid off. New Zealand is on the right track, as akkaps has said

I wouldn't be against it, but I don't think the VB logo on Australian shirts is what's going to convince me to drink, nor do I think it's drummed into my mind that I have to drink a VB at every ad break.

If you want to stop kids from being influenced to drink, don't allow the sale of alcohol at sporting clubs, kids see their dads and their teammates drinking after each game, and relate that to what has to happen after every game, or juniors at social nights seeing all the senior players on the sauce, that's what's going to make the kids drink after games.

All VB's sponsorship is really doing, is telling the kids to drink VB instead of one of it's rival brands.

The socials pressures these days to drink at sporting clubs and workplaces is big. There is always after training or game drinks and in the clubrooms. It's becoming the norm to have a drink after a game, and as I don't drink it makes it harder to for in with the group.

This case reminds me of that Friends episode where Rachel is forced to start smoking at work just so she can stay in the loop with what's going on and get clients she wants.

I don't find that to be at all the case.

I'm underage, so I can't get anything at the club, but overall, I'm fine. I still go talk with the guys, it gets a little harder on social nights towards the end when they are well on the way, but you're not going to be excluded from anything.

There is a ban on gambling companies being advertised in NZ, it's the reason St. Kilda's NZ jumpers didn't have the Centrebet logo on them.
Foreign gambling companies. Souths and Storm both wear charity kits in lieu of Crown sponsorship, but the Warriors are sponsored by Skycity, who operate a hotel and casino in Auckland.

No. People need to be held accountable for their actions, not the actions of others. My classmate got high on shrooms and trainsurfed. He hit his head in the Lewisham tunnel which I passed through every day on my way to uni. He died and there's noone to blame but himself for that. Grandiose dumbc*** move.

If you smoke, you know the risks. I would know. I have been around cigarettes all of my life. I started smoking a few months ago at the ripe age of 21 and a half. Why? Because I enjoy the feeling it gives me. With plain packaging, shuttered displays and no advertising, I still managed to get an urge to buy a deck, went down to my local CTC and bought a pack of Horizon 93mm long purples. 9mm. $14 worth. Girl problems and an inability to drink or smoke other things whilst wanting to be able to drive left me no other options when I needed a release. Depression and anxiety will do that to you. I know what happens when you smoke thanks to most of my family either dropping dead from cardiac/respiratory failure of long and painful battles with cancer. Risk you run when you smoke. So be it, I'm not too keen on old age myself.

I only started drinking at 19. Why? Because I was at my mate's 19th, someone gave me a cider and said "try it" because I was too nervous before to try alcohol (prone to seizures so wasn't sure of effect). Not because of advertising and the brand I bought religiously for months (Strongbow) didn't even advertise on any jerseys. Bugger it, my dad's worked in the industry, and I'll be darned if you've got a Jack Daniels NRL side, I'm still drinking Wild Turkey. Luckily for me, I'm not a violent drunk, and the most violent thing I've done on the turps is slam my mate's head into a wall after kissing him. May not have been a post-premiership bender. If I deck someone whilst intoxicated, blame me and only me for my stupidity.

Same thing with gambling. In this day and age you have to know the risks of punting. You know you might not see your $1-$1000+ dollar "investment" return, but you accept the risk and you place the bet. If you lose it, you've noone to blame but yourself.

Australia truly is the land of the idiot, where it's gotten to the point where a majority of the society is told "no" because they're too stupid to know the harm. Those that know the harm know what they're getting into, and shouldn't be nannied because of a few morons that probably don't know the difference between an education and an electrocution.

Also, sorry if this post seems like I'm attacking you Dylan, just think it's best to be blunt and honest when discussing issues such as the above.

Last night, India wore their 2015/WC shirt in a game against the WA.
But when I went to buy my Indian cricket shirt in Delhi, the shirts where discounted 30% which would suggest a new shirt was going to be released.

No worries,I'm glad you told your story. It might even influence me when I'm old enough to drink.

What does everyone think of the Kiwi's T20 uniform? IMO, New zealand currently have the best cricket kit set (T20/ODI/Test) in the world. Massive fan of the beige!

That's a very good speech. Well done mate.

Actual WC shirt? With the CWC logo? Or the same design? (I haven't seen pics from the games at the WACA) Last summer in the ODI series they wore the same design as they did in the WC just with the sponsor logos arranged differently for the different tournaments.

I thought they wore their old one, but the pics I just found show different.
Here's a link to a vid of the shirt: http://www.cricket.com.au/video/mat...ell-starc-rohit-sharma-aaron-finch/2015-01-18

I just bought the one they wore in the vid, was hoping for a new one to come out this season.
