When people call Steve Smith an amazing slipper when he takes a screamer

No, the guy drops dollies all the time.

Mark Waugh was an amazing slipper (to be fair was brilliant wherever he fielded)
Shane Warne was an amazing slipper
Tubby Taylor was an amazing slipper

I think Steve Smith has been wasted in the slips because he was an excellent ring fielder
Again

To be fair, he only went for this one because everyone has lost confidence with Khawaja as a slipper. This series is the first time in a long time Australia haven't had a natural/good first slip.

To be fair when did anyone have any confidence in Khawaja as a slipper? Worst fielder in the squad by miles and he's actually improved a lot in the last few years.

One thing that really annoys me is bowlers not appealing and just running off and celebrating, it's a poor look and disrespectful to the umpires.

I'd like to see the ICC implement a rule change, if the bowler does not appeal it's not out. Cummins average will immediately double.

test matches that only go half way into day 3 - it's now like what am I going to do for the next 2 days ?
(but boy how good was it ! )

A week ago we had all manner of flogs bagging the Melbourne pitch that gave us the perfect length test match!

That even now - after an absolute ripper of a 5 test series, which saw a record attendance across the entire summer and the highest attendance to the final 7 and a bit days to it ever - people still think test cricket needs to be saved.

If cricket needs to be saved, it needs to be saved from the penny pinching needs of those who would squeeze every last coin they can get from the sport at all times.

It's not so much that Test Cricket needs to be saved, as the disproportionate hype for limited-overs cricket needs to be tempered somehow. We now have generations of people who genuinely believe that limited-over cricket is 'real cricket', and that Test Cricket is just a relic of a bygone era.

What we have is an appetite within the casual fanbase for franchise cricket that creates a bone deep ache for something more meaningful in them. I've seen kids and adults learning the game attach to T20 but then become slowly enraptured by the pull of a test match.

The problem for cricket has never been the ability to captivate a fan, it's always been the barrier to entry and the endurance required to learn the sport. T20 facilitates faster learning of the rules; suddenly you don't need to teach the game over the longest format. It won't work for all, but it can work for most or some.

The problem is purely and completely those who wish to use the sport to profit, who need to get the maximum revenue from every game and the most eyeballs on every spectacle.

We've not had a bad test for years.
