Problem was that Murali already had 180 test wickets when he was first no balled and was a national hero.

When they started testing bowlers, they found that most bowlers chucked to a certain extent. Murali had 12 degrees of straightening during his action but even a bowler as seemingly pure as Glenn McGrath had over 10.

That was where the 15 degree threshold came from. Yeah, from a cynical point of view you could argue it was an arbitrary figure reached to enable Murali to play. But there were a bunch of other unquestioned bowlers who also fell narrowly under the threshold.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have is they say Murali bowled with a bent arm. With still photos to prove it. Yep, he did. Except there are no rules against bowling with a bent arm, and there never have been.

The problem is not murali to an extent its all the new bowlers who they arent testing and are clearly throwing it to stand out as spinners.
