Depends where you are in the world and what ground. Almost all tests in Pakistan are 5 day low-RR slogs.

Also Pretty sure Vaughan can only get work in Australia, so he's likely just a mouthpiece for his employers opinions.
He resigned from the BBC when the racism/County cricket story broke

The charge against him has since been thrown out so not sure what he'll do in the future

The 5th day is usually written off by stadium management - and this is who is driving this along with media - not the Cricket Bodies nor the players

I see this as a further push towards ' fast cricket ' because there is this feeling that spectators cant ' handle ' 4 days - its not going to change scheduling because weekends are revenue days

Wouldn't changing it to 4 days just make the 4th day a write off for stadium management?

Not really

A write off is a Gold Coin donation for a 2 hour window while paying staff to attend

On the 4th day one would assume most matches finish towards the end of the day rather than the start

This kind of stuff is why I can't stand English cricket commentators.

They really think so highly of themselves. I mean seriously Vaughan, got a Knighthood because Glen McGrath rolled his ankle.
It's not just Vaughan who thinks this (and he's actually a brilliant commentator and very funny on the Club Prairie Fire pod with Gilly), Mark Taylor has said it for a while too. Regardless of what people think, only 30% of Tests over the last 5 years have gone to a 5th day (some of those were rain impacted too). Teams are increasingly pushing for results and play a more aggressive brand of cricket.

Unless they turn the industrial fans and heaters on the pitch and produce a dustbowl.
