They retired Ashwin.

They dropped Gill to give them more bowling options... though yes, they should have dropped Rohit instead.

They have rotated their bowlers over a 5 test series with unforced changes.

India have used 16 players, where we have used 13, with only 1 unforced change.
Ashwin was already done, and Gill is one of the younger bats they should be backing in.

It's a very strange lineup. Only four topline batsmen, and three bowlers. Then it's bit part players - who stood up for them, but doesn't seem like a long term plan. Players will revert to the mean.

Reddy bats at 4 in FC cricket, got me stuffed as to why he comes in at 8.

Their bowling lineup is their biggest concern, outside of Bumrah who is phenomenal they don't have much.

Ashwin was already done? If that was the case, why was he in their squad & selected for a Test? Was a huge decision to retire one of their leading wicket takers of all time mid series. When did the Australian selectors last do this to a champion?

Geez, you play down so many situations...

Nitish is top 6 quality & Jadaja has batted in top 6 for much of his career. Their selectors read the pitch better & given themselves fsr more bowling options than us, yet still have batting depth.

Did not look comfortable out there today.

Ah well
Left arm was clearly sore & it was the left arm/shoulder that left the gap with pad.

Sure Konstas will learn quickly up against thr best bowler in the world.

Why was Ashwin in the squad ?? Think you'll find that it was a captains call, likewise why Shami ISNT in the squad.

Shami is the one they are missing.

Apparently fell out with Rohit.

Indians would be better off playing Shami (& Gill) instead of Rohit (& Deep or Siraj)

When was Ashwin last not in their squad?

Siraj telling the crowd how many wickets he's taken this test
I don't mind some emotion, but his reaction to Head's wicket in Adelaide was stupid after he had been hit to all parts...

There was conjecture before the series as to whether he'd come, then he didn't play.... and when he did he was rubbish
Bottom line is Ashwin has been an integral part of India's bowling line up for some time & it was a big call to retire him mid series.

When did the Australian selectors last make a big call on a champion? Nah, just let them play on their own terms as another Ashes coming up...

Not arguing with you at all

Ashwin retired himself, he's cooked.

Settle down - he shouldn't have come, but indian politics got him here.

They have a bowling attack full of part timers, and only four batsman.
