Least amount of balls in a 5 test series.

Only the MCG 5 days.

Surely there needs to be some consideration for pitches to be little more batter friendly... even accounting for the bowling was better than the batting by both sides.

Imagine the record crowds of most tests went into a 5th day...

To be fair there was that little play in Brisbane it was effectively a 4 test series

By how much?

Sure, but this was the 3rd shortest SCG test.

Adelaide would be close to shortest ever.

Even if you removed Brisbane, reckon would be shortest 4 test series.

2 1/2days for a test is still a worry under good playing conditions.

India will hope Bumrahs injury isn't serious.

Siraj isn't capable of leading the attack, Shami must play
India have a while until their next Test series. Should have plenty of time to recover, provided it's not too serious.

Australia have a 2 Test series in Sri Lanka to round out this WTC cycle. I'm fairly sure that this was India's last series in the current cycle.

It’s going to be interesting how the track plays, pitches in Sydney this season have been better than the usual total s**t heaps they’ve been in the recent past but even with Bumrah Australia’s best hope to win still seems to be something with a lot more life in it, India probably want another one slightly flatter as like in this match it can keep them in the match for longer.
While there was probably a bit too much in the track and the Australian batters didn’t handle it well either & the Bumrah factor missing helped it still shows your best chance to beat India these days in red ball cricket when you’re playing at home is with seeming green top pitches, South Africa showed that blueprint last year.

The flat pitches rolled out on the previous tours which were mostly for the financial benefits of five day tests involving India provide played right into India’s hands.

Looking at the numbers, who would want to be a spinner in Australia?

Well we won the series but is there any concern we have one player under the age of 30 in our test side and that player is 19.
I think we have a few rotating out over the next few seasons - Khawaja should go now and Starc and Hazlewood maybe go after the Ashes nest summer. Smith and Lyon probably push through to the English Ashes?

There's not massive pressure coming through from players outside the tram though.

I was really impressed by Webster, but 31 isn't the age we should be lookong for.

surely as well as he played at the end he has to get a tap on the shoulder

They just sacrificed a potential no.3 or 4 to keep Marnus and Khawja in the team.

Uzzie is probably done. We need a new opener before the Ashes, and the SL series should be when we blood them. Marnus is woefully out of form, but some how managed 3 50s.

Webster stays in for me, even with Green back. Can bowl spin as well as medium pace. McSweeney as a long term replacement for Smith? Scored most of his runs for SA at 4/5.

Konstas is interesting. In the Shield he wasn't playing like he has the last 2 tests. I think it was an instruction to bat like that. Potential is there, but could do with reining it in a little.

WTC final secured now, yes? Will be an interesting match against South Africa, that's for sure.

Lots of ifs & buts throughout the whole series but the Aussie selectors would’ve been thanking their lucky stars the pitch turned out to be what it was this match as it means no one ends up asking why the hell again like in previous last Tests of a series they again took in a frontline bowler who was so obviously cooked he could barely make it to the crease in the 2nd innings. If Cummins doesn’t get Pant out when he did and Starc gets smacked around even more again by Pant than he was that would’ve been an interesting storyline.
