Siddle's 2 overs for 41 and Thornton's last over costing 29 were the killers.

Conceded 70 runs from those 3 overs...

Compared to 116 runs from the other 17 overs.

Stoinis' last six into the upper deck of the members stand was massive

Commentary these days is just kraaaaap Statistics are putting me off watching AFl and Cricket
Short was our most economical bowler plus took wickets in 3 games yet only got 2 overs to bowl T 20 - you go for it from the start - pacing an innings is dumb
Oh POOR Thornton..all that flying and playing - it's 4 overs- a warm up - just pathetic we deserve to be bottom

The Strikers suck again.
Lulled us in with the 1st 3 games...

Siddle likely to miss games injured you would expect & rest of the bowlers have been smashed tonight.

Ordinary fielding too with dropped catches & misfields.

Yeah, the fielding is noticeably worse this season.

Guys like Wells, Salt, Renshaw, Neser and Weatherald were at least excellent in the field and would save 10-15 runs per innings in the outfield.

CA have decided to stick with the 7/Foxtel combination, rejecting Ch10/P+ due to a lack of reach.

Changes relative to the current agreement appear to be limited:
  • C7 gain the right to stream their matches on 7Plus, where previously all streaming rights lay with Foxtel (Foxtel retain their existing streaming rights).
  • BBL shortened by ~20 matches.
  • C7 agree to drop their current court case against CA.
My thoughts:
  • Shortening the BBL is definitely a good move, the only question is whether they're shutting the gate after the horse has already bolted.
  • P+ has zero penetration in Australia, so CA's argument about their "lack of reach" is entirely valid.
  • Disappointing to see that mens T20I and ODI matches remain behind the paywall.

I like the 7plius streaming bit.
Sometimes my kids hijack the tv and my phone / laptop is the only option

Channel 10 is in a really bad spot. Rejected due to reach despite offering big dollars, which they were hoping would increase their reach

Apparently CA tried to deal with them, for a 10/Foxtel arrangement, rather than 10/P+. 10, which is owned by Paramount, said "no deal".

10 itself would be an excellent FTA partner, if their BBL coverage is anything to go by. The problem is P+, which has zero penetration in the Australian market, and (in my opinion) very little content by which to increase their penetration level.

P+ would have been a disaster. It's trash

Channel 7 dropping the court case would have been a huge factor.

Good to see reduce big bash games. Back to quality over quantity.

At the end of the day, it probably wan't a hard decision - though giving up the extra $300M on offer may have given them cause for doubt.
  • Nein didn't really want it, as they have the tennis. They were really just there to stir the pot, and make life hard for 7 & 10.
  • 10 would have been good, except that they insisted on being paired with P+ - and P+ was never going to be an acceptable partner.
  • That left 7 & Foxtel as the only viable offer, and having 7 drop the court case was an added bonus.
