Would be very hard to split any of Gawn, Cripps, Oliver, Trac, Curnow.I think Gawn and Tracc have a pretty good shout of being Melbournes best player even when Oliver is in the team.

If you'd posted this at the end of 2022 you'd have had far less push back.If Oliver played at Carlton he would be their best player. Not sure the same could be said about Cripps at Melbourne.
Still the greatest dee of all time in my books and the best mid in the game for about a 3 year stretch. Will be interesting to see which direction his career heads in after a year out of the game essentially. If you'd posted this at the end of 2022 you'd have had far less push back.
He's still only 27 and having attended a couple of match simulations I'm confident Oliver will be back to his best sooner rather than later.
People forget, but most Melbourne supporters would have ranked Oliver our best player at the end of 2022.
Interesting that he didn't win the Brownlow (which is a midfielders award) in any of those 3 years.the best mid in the game for about a 3 year stretch.
Now you've done it. Now we'll be subjected to another 10 pages of danny goal post moving and weirdly Clarry obsessed love letters disguised as objective analysis.Interesting that he didn't win the Brownlow (which is a midfielders award) in any of those 3 years.
lol Brownlow. please.Interesting that he didn't win the Brownlow (which is a midfielders award) in any of those 3 years.
I know you're just winding up old Danny Boy, but it is worth mentioning that he got 31 votes one year and has usually polled pretty well. To think that 20 votes used to be able to win it.Interesting that he didn't win the Brownlow (which is a midfielders award) in any of those 3 years.
You do realise that Simon Goodwin is a coach and therefore votes in the award, right?he won the coaches award twice. Far more credible.
There's no doubt in my mind that if Clarry didn't have Petracca taking votes off him, he would have at least one Brownlow to his name, and Danny Boy would be far less disparaging about the award's credibility.I know you're just winding up old Danny Boy, but it is worth mentioning that he got 31 votes one year and has usually polled pretty well. Oliver has another potential 5 years of his prime. He may well return to his All Australian form as early as this year. It's way too premature to assume this debate is over. For god sake. Not this poll again. This debate is well and truly over. Just hoping Clarry can get his personal life right and hopefully footy career
Sorry, you think Clayton Oliver is the 'greatest Demon of all time'? And the total of that 'greatest Demon of all time' is being allegedly the best mid in the game for a 3 year stretch? Good lord the quality of the Demons all time must be very very poor. Can you point me clearly in the direction of what 3 years you're referring to? I have serious doubts as to whether he was the best midfielder during those years, let alone if he is a better Dee than the likes of Barassi, Gawn, Norm Smith, or Garry Lyon. I mean you are right, the Demon's all time list is pretty thin, but those four are clearly better than Clarry.Still the greatest dee of all time in my books and the best mid in the game for about a 3 year stretch. Lol it's over. Cripps will still be better than Oliver for at least 3 of those remaining years.Oliver has another potential 5 years of his prime. He may well return to his All Australian form as early as this year. It's way too premature to assume this debate is over.
LOL, no it's not.Lol it's over. Cripps will still be better than Oliver for at least 3 of those remaining years.
All well and good but his accolades speak for themselves. If you did your research you'd know all 18 coaches had him as the best player in the league in 2021 and 2022 (tied with touk miller).Sorry, you think Clayton Oliver is the 'greatest Demon of all time'? The Coaches Votes are a crap metric of determining the best player in the league. Biased by Coaches voting on their own players and rewards volume of performance over brilliance (with the 5 through 1 x2 voting system). All well and good but his accolades speak for themselves. You're club must have had some really shit footballers if Clayton Oliver is the best of them.LOL, no it's not.
And as to your previous post, Oliver shits over Lyon and Norm Smith as a footballer and is every bit the equal of Gawn.
Best stick to what you know, which admittedly isn't much.
Between 2017 and 2022, i.e. 6 seasons, Oliver was top 3 in contested possessions every single year. He was first 3 times, second once and third twice. You're club must have had some really shit footballers if Clayton Oliver is the best of them.
Oliver wouldn't be in the top 30 players all time at Carlton.
if the coaches votes is crap I'd hate to know what the Brownlow is!The Coaches Votes are a crap metric of determining the best player in the league. Biased by Coaches voting on their own players and rewards volume of performance over brilliance (with the 5 through 1 x2 voting system).
Flawlessif the coaches votes is crap I'd hate to know what the Brownlow is!
