Article on Herald Sun website:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/cross-could-miss-prelim/story-e6frf9jf-1225919800502

Haven't heard it anywhere else, and it wasn't on the main page of Superfooty.

Also appears that the article isn't finished (note the X's in the assessment of the incident), so maybe it's an article that's ready to go under a journo's assessment of the incident?

The MRP's a lottery, so who knows? Will be very disappointed if he goes for that. Probably would have missed Bolton if he wasn't bumped into him.

HANG ON. Something isn't right.

This article was written last night and published at 8pm.
Nothing on AFL site. The MRP stuff normally pop up monday avo.

This is preemptive journalism, look at the X's. So IF cross gets one week, the herald sun can be the FIRST to report.

That's what I'm thinking (and hoping). The MRP's stuff is never out this early.

I'd love to say I'd be shocked if he goes, but strange things seem to happen when it comes to the MRP.

Whether the article is geniune or not, I think crossy is in trouble. Regardless of how it happens, the contact is still high and forceful and he didn't go for the ball. The only question you need to ask is, did he have an opportunity to tackle instead of bump.

No head contact, both were low and going for the ball, couldnt tackle him as Kirk didnt have the ball...should get off for sure, if he gets rubbed out I call "conspiracy"

Not quite. As Bolton didn't yet have the ball, there was no opportunity to tackle. The problem here is that Crossy had the opportunity to go for the ball but instead chose to bump.

Hopefully the MRC cut him some slack due to Bolton being pushed into his path. I think his better hope however is that the incident be graded as negligent rather than reckless (good chance) and low impact (borderline). With some luck the points may end up below what is required for suspension with a guilty plea.

the contact was not high, MRP deem high to be neck and above. There has to be a case for Cross given that Bolton was pushed towards him by a Sydney player.

Breathing much easier now knowing that is a template

Wishful thinking perhaps. Looked high to me although it wasn't obvious as to whether there was contact to the head or shoulder. Looked more like shoulder to me but there may be other angles they look at that tell a different story. Bolton certainly looked a little groggy.

I won't feel easy until the MRC complete their assessment. Would be a shame to see such as courageous player who typically has eyes for the ball, get rubbed out for such an important match.

As long as it is under 200 points an early plea and good record should get him under 100 points. If he is is over the 1O0 points surely rocket contacts roos to get bolton to say it was the force of his team mate that caused the contact. Surely with this evidence he must get the benefit of the doubt.

As in law you must innocent unless there is no doubt to find you guilty

No one else is concerned that there's apparently a journo out there happy to write an article about something that hasn't happened whilst presuming what the Dogs will or won't do about the same incident?

That's pretty poor journalism.

It's just a template ready to post soon as a decision is made, and somehow it's gone live already. Any decent journalist would pre-write articles like this for quick release.

I'm with you Jorge.

Scared the shit out of me until I saw the X,X part. Didn't see a "Cross gets off, no case to answer" template floating around on the website.

Cooney hammy, Morris back, Higgins thyroid, Lake hip, knowing our luck this month, the MRP will decide to revisit Round 8's tough stand and get Crossy. Maybe Barry can have a word to the Panel - he knows how to escape convictions during finals. At least Cross has no record so here's hoping the points will be low enough for an early plea/reprimand result.

As I'm biased and living in the old days when that kind of stuff was laughed about and wouldn't even be considered for the"Biffs, Brawls and Bruisers" DVDs of the 70s and 80s I won't comment on how it looked OK to me!
