Fixture CROWS AFLW FIXTURE RELEASED

That looks like a relatively cushy fixture. The one downside is we only get five "home" games, but we do get another one in Adelaide when we play Port at Alberton. Also, we play two of the other "big four" teams (Melbourne, Kangaroos) at home, although we do have Brisbane away. We miss two of last year's top 8 teams (Gold Coast and Sydney) altogether.

Fairly soft start with Port, Fremantle, Hawthorn and Essendon, and only one of them (Fremantle) involves us travelling out of the state.

The only real issue there is that we play both Brisbane and Melbourne during our compressed portion of the season, when we play four matches in 15 days. At least we only travel twice in that period.

The teams we don't get to play (with ladder positions from last year): Gold Coast (5th), Sydney (8th), Richmond (10th), Carlton (12th), West Coast (17th), Bulldogs (18th). That's not a bad list for us. Gold Coast and Sydney were both top 8 sides last year, Richmond and Carlton could get their act together and be pretty good, and we get to avoid our annual Bulldogs scrapfest match.

I still think a ten game season and the ridiculous compressed portion is bullshit. Either take the competition seriously or don’t have it at all.

On the plus side, happy we play up here in Brisbane. Even if it is the day after the grand final.

Technically it's an 11 game season. It just takes place over ten weeks.

What a stupid fixture!

Finally get a home Pride Round game - and it’s on a Wednesday night!

Also, whose bright idea was it to put a home game up against the SANFL GF?

At least it’s a relatively cushy draw in terms of match ups.

Just realised 3 of the games will be off a 5 day break and 1 off a 4 day break. Why on earth would the players agree to this? All for 1 extra game to the fixture?
With less time in between games, and same amount of rotations, will we see more players injured, tiring out, players rested for easier matchups? This might be better for some of the OG teams with more pre-seasons, but hopefully it doesn't lead to injuries or anything.

This is happening to every team, many of them worse affected than us. Brisbane play a match at home, and then travel to Perth four days later at one point.

I agree, there's no reason we couldn't have just had the season go one extra week.

Or even just kept it at 10 rounds and 10 games each. I'm all for a longer season where every team plays each other, but I don't see a point of squashing it all into a 1 month period where every team is forced to play games with 4-5 day breaks..all for 1 extra game.

The AFL keeps doing this whole "prove to us you deserve a longer season" thing, but then chopping and changing when the matches are and doing strange fixtures. It's weird.

I don't think the AFL wants the AFLW to reach the CBA triggers for more games

Not to mention the timing of some games.

They set a crowd target, then put matches on at 4:00pm on a Friday afternoon, or on a Wednesday night - then wonder why crowds are down.

Nothing official, but Rainbow Crows plan to have a presence at all games
I sent a message to them on FB the other day re the Brisbane game but they haven't got back to me yet. Are you able to get a message to them for me? :)
