I suppose that's why Burton got promoted within the club then.

I enjoy that you find my posts so humorous but you should make sure your own posts stand up first.

You do not know collective minds and burton are different right? blame him all you like for bringing them in and what they did on the camp under his watch but thats a very different think to associating what he does in schools to what happened on the camp. way different things.

What I am getting at is, he is no longer at the club. no need to be disrespectful and make assumptions about his personal life. thats just garbage rumourmongering.

What? We werent even talking about Burton, we were talking about Fagan, and you decided to throw numbnuts name into the mix.

I thought Burton being an absolute lemon was the one thing this board agreed upon

Not rumour or innuendo - the upshot of an external review was that he was instantly removed from the club and has not returned to the AFL industry in any capacity. Probably the most cut and dried thing in the history of the club. No room for any other interpretation.

Did he now?

the very last sentence of that article gave me a headache

“The club have put their hand up and said it was a complete miss and if we could do things differently we would of.”

Would of ?? Would of ??

Would've - How on earth someone who is paid to write for a living comes up with that trash I will never understand

It should also be "The club has put its hand up ..."

Based on how much you spring to the club's defence, nothing is going to convince you that anything bad came from the camp and everything is rosy. Why did we even do an external review? Like adelaidecrows said, everything was just a convenient coincidence.

We're discussing whether the camp ruined the mental state of players.

That's a ridiculous overstatement.

Burton wasn't good enough at his job and deserved to be let go. That doesn't mean he should never have a job again, and I wouldn't care if he was working in a school somewhere.

The camp didn't succeed at what it was meant to do, and was a complete error. That doesn't mean the camp somehow ruined players - the issues we had weren't caused by the camp. The camp was meant to help solve the issues but just highlighted many of them - the divisons we had in the playing group and a coaching staff that didn't understand what the team needed.

I believe Burton wrote that.

Yeah, I don't think there's any disagreement that he shouldn't work in top level sport again. He was a complete failure.

The question was whether he should be allowed to work again, even if just in a school environment. I think some of the statements are just completely over the top.

I thought it was whether he should be working in an area he's even less qualified in than football

If he ran a fitness centre no one would bat an eyelid

Instead he's doubling down on what got him sacked

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong thread but I had a question regarding Auskick.
My Daughter is 5 this year and I want to sign her up for an Auskick team.
We live in Cumberland Park but i'm interested in any experience any of you have had with local teams or clubs.
Cheers and goodluck this year.

NDA's also don't magically exist because you want them to for your narrative. The AFL and Broadcasters would not allow those to exist at all. But good try. Anything else you want to make up to justify your hate for Burton?
From Bryce Gibbs.
“Obviously a lot of details, we weren’t allowed to know going into the camp. We all had to sign waivers just to say we can’t speak about it after.

From Bryce Gibbs.
They signed those because it is a proprietary process run by CM, and they want to protect their trade secrets (as ridiculous as that sounds in hindsight).

It wasn't to prevent the possibility of people talking to the media - more leaking any competitive advantages that could come from their process.

Crazy to think that now, of course.

What was the result of CM legal action against the journalists?

Gave the usual rainbow and lollipops brigade more 'proof' that the club did nothing wrong and the whole thing was a media beat up. In real life, most likely nothing, just something you say to re-direct the conversation in your favour.

But that doesn't fly in the workplace occupational health and safety investigation. The club would have had to hand over everything associated with the camp. The only thing I believe that went on at the camp was it exposed how mentally weak the team was and all trust amongst those that weren't was lost. The only thing the club did wrong is badly estimate the resilience of a lot of players. interesting that none of them have gone onto better careers.

The investigation lasted over 1 year and it only clears the club of economically prosecutable breaches of the WHS Act. It is not a catch all clearance. In any case, it's not really that important. What is obvious is that a few players took exception to something that happened. As I've posted in the past, these will likely be something that might result in you or I saying it was weird or dumb or pointless. Where the club very clearly failed was the coverup and the silencing of anyone aggrieved whilst rolling out others saying how awesome it was. This is what divides a playing group and destroys trust between players and management. Had they admitted straight away what they eventually did, it would have been denied any oxygen and barely got an article or 2.

I'm not sure the better careers comment stacks up. I can't think of any players at all that went on that camp that have been better since, not just the ones that left.

The club would have been held accountable for the camp if CM did anything untoward. The club placed them in that environment. Plus the fact collective minds did an hour by hour run down of the camp in a tell all interview and not one player disputes it suggests its on the money. Now regardless of the waiver Gibbs said they signed, the minute CM went to air the waiver would have been null and void as the players could have disputed it. The camp happened, its done, It became a convenient excuse and while some things happened that killed trust in the group and the Sacred Artefact being used it just doesn't match the media reports. And back to Burton, the guy should be left alone and I see no need to even bring him up now and slagging his efforts at a new career. He was only one of a fraction of problems at the club and our club is better for the overhaul with a better culture moving forward.

Our problems started well before Burton came to the club. In fact, I'd suggest our cultural disintegration started in the very early 2000s and just went down hill from there. Im also a firm believer by the time Burton and Pyke got hold of the club the ship was already starting to sink. We are doing now what Walsh would have finished. There are three main people to blame for our situation over the journey and Burton and Roo aren't one of them.

Anyway its been discussed to death. no need to rehash this crap. Bring on 2022.

Look, it's simple, you're getting wound up in the micro, there's no need to. A component or 2 of the CM program caused a degree of distress among a player or 2 or 3. Nothing major, nothing prosecutable, no naked trees, just acouple of things that "missed the mark".

Had the main players at the club, Fagan, Burton & Pyke, dealt with it properly, it wouldn't have leaked and been given all that uneccessary oxygen. And then the arrogant idiots botched the next opportunity by denying any issue at all and rolled out anyone willing to speak highly whilst silencing contrary views. How they thought this could work given it had already leaked from within was the absolute peak of arrogance and stupidity.

The major issue was never what happened on the camp, it was that they pinned 100% of the blame on mental weakness and then allowed minor issues to fester and become a major problem. Getting CM back deserves a mention too.

Unley Jets would be a good option for you https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&...0QFnoECAQQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0XjQ-iIzEXM7Ek-kvff2el

alternatively Colonel Light Gardens would also be good and a bit closer to you??

Bingo, that's the sliding doors moment as that showed the true colour of our admin/coaches. They were out to save their own skin above all else.

The major issues afterwards were inevitable once that was shown, after all, they lost the trust needed to deal with those minor issues, and could only breed a culture of self-survival.
