it might have seemed silly a few years ago but the way they are creaming their jean's is even worst than our choke years in 2002 & 2003  do u think its because they would rather see port fail than crows win???

Port Power HUMILIATED themselves (again) in the Grand Final, losing by an embarrassing 119 points to make them the biggest Grand Final losers ever in the history of the AFL. :thumbsu:

Can you blame them?
Next year they will be celebrating a decade of nothing, so what else do they have to cheer about?
They had their chances but under Craig they continually choked and now have nothing to show but an aging list with poor youngsters :)

yes we failed in the last three years. However with our group of youngsters coming through we will win a flag before Port win one. You wont ahve a s good a yer like this one next year. We might not make the 8,I think we will, but all indications are we have stopped chasing that elusive flag.

Our next generation of leaders already have good games under their belts. 09/10 Adelaide will be a force again.

Please advise why we wont have as good a year as this one?
Is it because all of our many young players got another year under their belt and gained valuable finals experience?
Please tell use why you will be a force again in 2 years? Dont simply just say 'youngsters' because in 2 years when Goodwin/Edwards/Macca are gone you have no one to replace them

Scott Thompson polled the most Brownlow Votes for an SA player. There are replacements in the wings for most of our older players. VB Thommo and Reilly have already taken up a lot of the midfield work. Goodwin and Edwards are playing less of a role already. The one that there is no replacement for is Macca. Just like their is no replacement for Wangas. Next year will see our kids play an increased role. The unknowns for next year are the progression of Tippett and Sellar. I would like to see both play a majority of games. Throw hem to the wolves and see how they go. I am sure both could handle it. Westhoff never dominated SANFL and he was capable in AFL. Difference is these guys are already as big as Hoff, but younger.

Also our KPPs are reasonably young. Rutten Stevens Gill Bock Henchtel Maric Griffen. In isolation only Rutten is an out and out star. But in our team they do a workmanlike job. Look at Collingwood, they are a team of Workman.

Why Port wont win a Flag.

Backline is mediocre. Chaplain and Pettigrew are both 2nd and 3rd calibre backman. There is no Full back. Wakelin is going to be missed big time.
Geelong showed that to win a flag you need a tough bodied midfield. Look at Ports Midfield. It is highly skilled, quick, yet very light. When a team is physical they cant handle it. It happens and you cant deny it. They play a flashy brand of football that will get cut to pieces in Finals. Geelong proved what the Crows have exploited for the last 2 years. Lade is 31, will be 32 next season. Brogan will be 31. Neither will be ruckman in another Flag. This is also a big hole Port need to fill. Port young rucks are not AFL standard.

Mark Williams did say last year a flag was five years away. He is not a stupid man. After this season I doubt he has changed his mind. There is still a bit of Rebuilding to happen at Alberton. This year was dotted with easy wins and close wins coming from opponents mistakes.

yes he will
in the 2010 season
never let the facts get in the way of a good story...

Anyway to answer the OP. I think the Crows do have a bit to look forward to. Some fresh players are going to come through next year. We didnt succeed with this bunch (allbeit through poor match day coaching in my mind but thats for another thread), but I beleive our players coming through have every chance to succeed. The oens we ahve seen thus far have shown they can do well at AFL level, and we should build upon that platform.
